Job Brief

The Mechanical Applications Engineer is responsible for reviewing customer drawings, specifications, and bid documents to prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for mechanical systems, components, fabrication, and related services. This role works closely with sales, engineering, operations, vendors, and customers to ensure quotations are technically sound, commercially competitive, and aligned with company capabilities.

Responsibilities
  • Review RFQs, blueprints, specifications, and other customer documentation to determine project scope and quoting requirements.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors, and outside services.
  • Analyze mechanical drawings, technical documents, and project requirements to identify risks, constraints, and special considerations.
  • Request and evaluate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Work with engineering, production, and purchasing teams to confirm manufacturability, lead times, and resource requirements.
  • Develop accurate quotations, proposals, and supporting documentation within required timelines.
  • Maintain quote files, pricing records, and estimating databases for future reference.
  • Communicate with customers and internal teams to clarify specifications, resolve discrepancies, and answer technical questions.
  • Support continuous improvement of estimating processes, costing methods, and quotation accuracy.
  • Assist with project handoff to operations or project management after award, as needed.


Requirements
