Mechanic III role is responsible for maintaining equipment efficiencies and extending the life of existing manufacturing, packaging and facilities assets. The incumbent shall implement maintenance best practices to sustain asset reliability by driving root cause analysis of all equipment failures.
Responsibilities:- Troubleshoot and identify the causes of unexpected equipment breakdowns.
- Conduct root cause analysis and repair packaging and facilities equipment (i.e., mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and automation systems) to improve operational efficiencies and uptime.
- Make necessary modifications, perform test runs and confer with the maintenance manager regarding results; implement additional alterations to machinery as needed.
- Complete efficient equipment setups per the daily packaging schedule.
- Track and complete all equipment work orders and preventative maintenance to ensure OSHA & FDA compliance.
- Fabricate parts to perform repairs and integrate new equipment installations into existing packaging lines.
- Maintain compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and plant and departmental procedures and guidelines.
- Work closely with outside vendors and technical representatives on control, electrical and electronic system issues and designs.
- Maintain clean and organized shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies in compliance with 5S requirements.
- Partner with Engineering on special projects, new equipment installations and modifications.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:Education: - A High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Vocational or community college coursework in related fields, or equivalent experience.
Certification:Technical certification preferred (Manufacturing technician, Controls technician, etc).
Experience: Requires a minimum of four years of related experience in technical or maintenance roles.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:Requires:
- Strong ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and automation systems in a team setting to improve equipment performance.
- Strong bias towards data-driven problem solving and decision making.
- Medium to proficient skills in maintaining automation systems (e.g., PLCs, HMIs).
- Demonstrated knowledge of preventive maintenance administrative, systems and electronics record keeping (i.e., JDE, SAT, CMMS-Maintain X, etc.)
- Proficiency in English to read and interpret technical manuals, safety procedures, and technical publications; communicate effectively; and maintain accurate records.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Physical Requirements: - Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the entire shift.
- Ability to bend, stretch, push, pull, squat, and move as needed to access, clean, and service machinery.
- Ability to conduct detailed visual inspections of equipment and components
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Environment:Work environment includes exposure to manufacturing conditions such as noise, temperature variations, dust, and vibration. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed shoes is required.
Safety:The incumbent must be able to perform this job safely in accordance with standard operating procedures LOTO and Good Manufacturing Practices without endangering the health or safety of self or others.
Supervisory Responsibility:This role does not have supervisory responsibility.
National Target Base Pay Range: $63,000.00 - $105,000.00The salary range for this position is based on national standards.
For candidates in California and the New York metro, the Target Base Pay Range is $71,000.00 - $118,000.00, to reflect the cost of living and market conditions in those areas.
Actual compensation will take into account a wide range of factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to geographic location, education, experience, qualifications and job-related skills. It is not typical for an individual to be hired above the midpoint of the range for their role, and compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case.
