Job Description


About the Role:

Matterport is looking for a SeniorSoftware Engineer to join our Platform Engineering team.  You’ll be building features and services for the Matterport Platform, which acts as the glue and entry point for all other Matterport products and services.  We handle billions of requests each month, so you must be familiar with building services at scale.  The ideal candidate for this role will thrive in a fast-paced environment, be able to pivot when needed and have exceptional personal drive.  You should be comfortable working in an API-heavy, microservices environment.

This position is located in Sunnyvale, CA and offers a schedule of Monday to Thursday in the office and the option to work from home on Friday.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, implementation and deployment of new features and services
  • Build features and services using Kotlin, Python and front-end technologies
  • Build APIs, backend services and integrations that support our products
  • Work with relational and non-relational data stores
  • Work with a cross-functional team of product managers, designers, engineers and QA
  • Ensure proper monitoring and respond to issues with live environments
  • Be an advocate for good engineering practices
  • Contribute to a learning culture
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers to meet their full potential

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field from an accredited, not for profit university or college
  • 8+ years of development experience, designing and delivering features and services in a cloud environment
  • Experience developing SaaS solutions using modern OOP languages, such as Java and/or Server-side Kotlin
  • Experience with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills in all areas of platform development
  • A solid track record of developing testable, maintainable, well-documented code
  • Ability to work well in an agile environment
  • Track record of commitment to prior employers

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to or familiarity with Microsoft stack technologies including C#, .NET core, MySQL, etc.
  • Experience with microservices such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with messaging frameworks, such as RabbitMQ and Kafka
  • Familiarity with Python
  • Familiarity with Elasticsearch
  • Experience with Autodesk Revit or other building information modeling software
  • Exposure to non-relational data stores such as FoundationDB
  • Familiarity with UI frameworks such as React or Angular

This position offers an annual salary range from $177,000 - $211,000 determined by relevant skills and experience, in addition to a generous benefits plan.
