Work Model: This is a fully onsite role, with work performed at your designated Regal Rexnord office.

Position Overview

The Materials Manager is responsible for functional leadership at Regal Rexnord's Commercial Gearing production facility in Charlotte, NC. This location is a $98M+ business with ~160 salaried professional and hourly associates. Directly and indirectly reporting to this position are salaried professionals and hourly associates.

This critical role is a strategic hands-on leader responsible for managing a complex supply chain and implementing advanced strategies in Purchasing, Logistics, Master Scheduling, Capacity Planning and Inventory Control to achieve the financial and operating objectives set by the overall organizational business plan. This role reports directly to the Plant Manager and indirectly to the Supple Chain functional leader.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Planning and/or Purchasing professionals to define and execute a materials strategy to move goods from Supplier through receipt, production, and shipment readiness
  • Responsible for managing the plant's inventory performance metrics vs. target for Raw, WIP, and Finished Goods through stock level optimization and reduction/prevention of Excess & Obsolete. Acts as Inventory Management subject matter expert for site
  • Sets and manages the inventory strategy (plan for every part) and monitors performance
  • Key contributor to the SIOP process for materials availability, inventory forecast, scenario planning. Support process of translating demand forecast into supply and SKU-based forecast
  • Improve ERP effectiveness by ensuring the right parameters are set while improving automation of planning and scheduling process.
  • Responsible for supplier OTD and performance monitoring. Ensures corrective actions or escalations are in place to increase supplier OTD and quality.
  • Implement, manage, and improve all processes related to the materials department including but not limited to: procurement, material handling, scheduling, inventory management, receiving, shipping, production scheduling, forecasting, demand management.
  • Support Customer OTD and material availability metrics improvement through active problem solving and action plans. Coach team on problem-solving and analytical methodology to identify true root cause.
  • Lead physical inventory counts and cycle count. Responsible for overall inventory accuracy.
  • Develop and lead a team of Planners and Buyers towards best-in-class materials management by performing full range of managerial responsibilities, including, hiring, coaching, and developing employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; and talent assessment and performance management initiatives.


Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or Materials

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in direct material, inventory planning, supplier management, and strategy development, plus 2 years of experience supervising professionals
  • Proven people leadership competencies are required, including the ability to effectively communicate, interact, and influence at all levels of the organization to drive results.
  • Able to lead with a bias for action and a high say-do mindset, while holding team to high level of ownership and accountability.
  • Functional knowledge of ERP systems, especially Materials Requirement Planning (MRP), Scheduling, and Purchasing.
  • Strong financial acumen, especially with the understanding of inventory and impacts to working capital.
  • Demonstrated bias for "go to Gemba" and critical thinking skills to effectively identify problem areas and drive potential solutions using data-driven decision-making.
  • Expert analytical skills. Able to work in tight deadlines and make decisions with imperfect information, rationalize calculated risks, and adapt quickly as new information is available.
  • Strong cross-functional facilitation and teambuilding skills with ability to diagnose and close organizational culture gaps.
  • Strong written communication and excellent oral presentation skills, and the ability to present convincingly at senior leader levels.


Preferred Skills and Qualifications
  • MBA
  • Experience in industrial manufacturing with mix of MTS/ATO/MTO models.
  • Previous experience working with SAP and/or Oracle Planning modules.
  • APICS, CPIM, CPM, ISM or ASQ Supply Chain Certification.
  • Six Sigma or LEAN certification.


Travel: Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 15% of the time for supplier visits or other business needs.
