Job Description

The Advanced Microscopy team is looking for experienced Materials Analyst with a background in operating and analyzing materials using TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy). This is a hands-on, production-focused role centered on supporting advanced materials and semiconductor analysis for clients across multiple industries.

The successful candidate will be a strong technical contributor who thrives in a fast-paced lab environment, enjoys focused tool time, and values producing high-quality, site-specific results within defined client timelines.

A typical day will consist of various activities, including:
  • Obtaining TEM and STEM images of prepared samples
  • Obtaining STEM/EDX and STEM/EELS spectra, line scans and maps
  • Organizing data, prepare and deliver summary reports to customers
  • Partnering with customers and team members to optimize experiments and explain results
  • Developing TEM analysis protocols for new sample types

Work Schedule: *5pm-2am - Tuesdays to Saturdays or Sundays to Thursdays

*Shift differential will apply

Compliance Requirement (ITAR)

This position supports work related to defense applications and is subject to ITAR regulations.

Applicants must be U.S. Persons, defined as:
  • U.S. Citizen
  • U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card holder)


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Materials Science and Engineering or related field or equivalent industry experience. This role is structured for BS to MS level only and is not aligned with PhD-level graduate level.
  • Excellent operation and theory understanding of Transmission Electron Microscope
  • Experience with TEM sample preparation and hard materials characterization
  • Solid understanding of electron microscopy, semiconductor device physics and failure analysis

What would set you apart:
  • Familiarity with aberration-correction TEM
  • Familiarity with FEI TEM tools, Oxford/Bruker EDS, Gatan EELS, Digital Micrograph

Compensation is aligned with market standards for the region and tailored to individual qualifications and experience.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to communicate clearly and understandably with sufficient volume to ensure an accurate exchange of information in normal conversational distance, over the telephone, and in a group setting
  • Ability to continuously operate a personal computer for extended periods of time (4 or more hours)
  • Ability to lift to 10 lbs.
  • Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate a keyboard and other office equipment.
  • Ability to use a telephone, access file cabinets, receive and ship customer products
  • Ability to sit for periods of time
