Overview

Job Title: Material Planner

Job Location: Torrance, CA

Salary: $70,000-$94,000/yr

TheMaterial Planneris responsible for ensuring the availability of materials to support production schedules, customer commitments, and inventory optimization. This role manages material requirements, monitors supply flow, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to minimize shortages and excess while supporting on-time delivery performance.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate material requirements planning (MRP) to align with production schedules and customer demand.

  • Monitor and manage material flow through the supply chain, ensuring timely availability for manufacturing operations.

  • Collaborate with Program Managers, Operations, Purchasing, Quality, Receiving, and Stockroom to resolve material issues and support schedule attainment.

  • Review bills of material (BOMs) for structure, accuracy, and planning parameters; recommend adjustments as needed.

  • Track shortages and excess materials, partnering with Purchasing to expedite orders or mitigate risks.

  • Monitor supplier delivery dates and work with the procurement team to resolve delays.

  • Support new contracts and projects by managing material readiness and planning activities.

  • Provide regular reporting on material status, shortages, and risks to internal stakeholders.

  • Analyze demand and historical usage trends to improve forecasting accuracy and reduce shortages/excess.

  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, program priorities, and quality requirements.

Qualifications

Level 1 Bachelor27s degree and minimum 0-2 years of prior experience or 4 years of prior experience in liu of education.

Level 2 Bachelor27s degree and minimum 2 years of prior experience or 6 years of prior experience in liu of education.

Level 3 Bachelor27s degree and minimum 4 years of prior experience or 8 years of prior experience in liu of education.

  • Prior experience in amanufacturing or production support environmentis required.

  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (Infor LN, Oracle, or equivalent) and strong Microsoft Excel skills.

  • Ability to analyze demand data, forecasts, and material reports to drive planning decisions.

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.

  • Effective problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to resolving material shortages.

  • Knowledge of electronic components, high-reliability (hi-rel) parts, and associated supply chain processes preferred.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with internal teams, suppliers, and program stakeholders.
