Full Job Description
The Material Flow Manager will be a member of the Camden Materials team. The position will optimize component storage space, standard delivery routes to Fab and Assembly areas of the plant, Material Handling equipment, and conveyance within the manufacturing and inbound warehouses. In addition, they will be responsible for supporting the Camden team in developing lean material flow processes and systems and provide creative and forward thinking to the material flow process including supply base capabilities, material handling, and material control systems.
Additionally, this position will have managerial responsibilities to include coaching and directing the activities and employees, including team leaders and production team members, in a specific manufacturing area within a value stream to ensure high performance and continuous improvement in the areas of safety, quality, delivery and cost. This is a role that will grow with the plant as it continues to expand its product portfolio.

How You'll Create Possibilities

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Camden Materials team in developing lean material flow processes and systems including the automation of material flow.
  • Manage and facilitate barcode scanning system (Intellinum) for product put away to markets and scanning to production lines.
  • Maintain all warehouse market racking and bulk locations to ensure they match pre-determined put away in the Oracle system for system integrity.
  • Manage and control the inventory integrity and accuracy through cycle counting within the Oracle system. Further, to evaluate frequency of counts on components through the use of ABC analysis and provide root cause analysis problem solving with use of A3 process.
  • Facilitate NPI products by working with the SQM to ensure PPAP's are approved and imported into the GE eP360 pack plan program successfully.
  • Maintain and audit GE Camden PFEP (Plan for every part) file for accuracy to match eP360 inputs.
  • Develop and execute standard delivery routes to the Fab and assembly areas of the plant.
  • Develop standard work for the Materials group to include shipping, receiving and scheduling best practices.
  • Evaluate processes in all areas of material handling and optimize those processes before implementing automation.
  • Work with selected suppliers to ensure NPI project schedules are met and within the defined budget while meeting all success factors.
  • Facilitate NPI materials from trials to launch and coordinate cross functionally for successful material presentation to the fab and assembly areas.
  • Evaluate shipping methods to optimize efficient loading to eliminate damage during loading and in transit to final destination.
  • Develop 5S best practices within the Materials Group as well as scheduled Gemba walks to address issues with root cause analysis.


Standards and Compliance:
  • Ensure all equipment and dock inspections are executed and comply with Industry and Governmental Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) standards.
  • Work with functional leaders to ensure equipment & processes support business initiatives of Bill of Process (BOP), Lean Manufacturing, Ergonomic Design and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).


Leadership and Cross-functional Work:
  • Work with manufacturing and warehouse operations and Lean teams to understand the Value Stream and how your projects impact this. Ensure material flow, workstation setup, model mix, etc. are considered when workstations / equipment is designed.
  • Work cross functionally to eliminate waste in the supply chain including the integration of material automation with manufacturing processes.
  • Deliver guidance, and training for cross-functional team members about material flow. Provide documentation and training to maintenance and shop floor personnel.
  • Utilize technical and project experience to add to the APS (Appliance Production System) and CM teams' body of knowledge to drive continuous improvement throughout the organization and company.
  • Promote safety culture and ensure team's compliance with safety rules and procedures, such as: PPE compliance, accident investigation within 24 hours, Safety Contacts and safe start participation.
  • Lead and own accident investigation process to identify root cause and drive required corrective action(s). Log and close accident investigations in a timely manner.
  • Supervise and provide daily work direction and support for employees, including team leads within assigned area / cost center.
  • Lead and motivate employees ensuring consistent adherence to processes, work guidelines, expectations, policies and legal requirements.
  • Build and reinforce a positive culture in alignment with our GEA values for all employees within a team environment. Ensure fair and equal compliance to HR policies.
  • Responsible for operational performance and improvement of key metrics including safety, quality, delivery, cost and morale. Align area metrics with overall department/value stream goals; organize and communicate to deliver on these metrics.
  • Effectively communicate expectations and provide feedback to employees regarding performance in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Oversee line staffing and allocate employees to cover absenteeism, and complete job postings as needed.
  • Supervise the daily activities of team leaders & employees in an assigned area required to meet production with emphasis on positive employee relations and safety, and in accordance with Company policies and procedures.


What You'll Bring to Our Team

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain or related discipline
  • 5+ years hands on experience with distribution, logistics or supply chain including experience in Lean Supply Chain production method.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, production planning and warehouse operations.
  • Excellent project tracking and detailed planning skills.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams and at multiple levels in the organization (both salaried and shop floor operators / skilled trades team members)
  • Good oral and written communication skills - this person will be expected to provide status report outs to cross-functional team.
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of cross-functional program deliverables and ability to drive decisions based on the overall benefit to the company.
  • Previous experience and working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Auto Cad or ACAD, and Outlook.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or master's degree in industrial engineering or supply chain management preferred
  • Very creative talent with a proven ability to look past what is currently done and develop a practical, implementable vision for the future with a strong history of executing to vision.
  • Simulation experience.
  • PLM software experience
  • Equipment design experience and Robotic Languages
  • Basic understanding of Oracle ERP.


Working Conditions:
  • Working conditions are normal for a high-volume distribution environment.
  • Work may involve lifting materials and products up to 30 pounds and working in and around heavy equipment.
  • Working in this environment requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to, eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and hard hats.
  • These roles will require frequent walking in a manufacturing plant environment.
  • Hours & Weekends: Working off-shift and weekends as required.
