Full Job Description
In January 1983, a Sequential Prophet 600 and a Roland Jupiter 6 were connected at a trade show in Anaheim. They were synthesizers made by different companies, but pressing a key on one could produce a note on the other. It was the first public demonstration of MIDI, a way for electronic instruments to communicate. The music was still up to the person at the keyboard. MIDI history

You9ll report to our Head of Growth Marketing in a hands-on individual contributor role, working closely with Performance Marketing, Lifecycle, SEO, Data, and Engineering. You9ll own marketing integrations and platform infrastructure, including implementation, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.

Our Data team owns the shared customer-data foundation, attribution methodology, and analytical models. Growth Engineering builds and maintains our GTM orchestration layer. You9ll partner with those teams to make their systems work effectively in marketing, using Mercury9s shared development tools and standards.
Here are some of the things that you9ll do:
  • Own the marketing technology roadmap with Growth Marketing leaders, prioritizing work that improves data reliability, customer experience, and the team9s ability to launch and learn.
  • Build and maintain marketing data pipelines using Segment and Polytomic. Make approved Snowflake attributes, audiences, and conversion signals usable in marketing platforms, and return marketing activity to our shared data systems.
  • Own GA4 administration and ongoing improvements, including event configuration, custom dimensions, platform connections, and reporting setup. Keep the platform reliable and useful for Marketing.
  • Build and maintain marketing tracking and advertising conversion integrations, including campaign tagging, cross-domain measurement, and browser- and server-side tracking. Investigate missing events, duplicate conversions, and reporting discrepancies, partnering with Engineering when fixes require changes to application code.
  • Partner with Data to implement agreed measurement definitions and attribution settings across marketing platforms, including GA4 and Rockerbox.
  • Build, test, deploy, and maintain marketing integrations and advanced automations using APIs, integration tools, and custom code. Own routine releases within an agreed scope, using Mercury9s approved development setup and partnering with Data and Engineering on changes to shared systems.
  • Maintain website forms, marketing tags, and experimentation tools. Partner with SEO and Web Engineering on publishing automation, structured-data checks, and the technical setup for SEO and AI-search experiments.
  • Monitor marketing integrations and resolve failures. Catch stale audiences and broken connections; establish clear testing, alerting, and recovery practices.
  • Keep marketing platforms well maintained through thoughtful configuration, access management, vendor coordination, and documentation. Build reusable tools and help teammates use them effectively.
There are lots of paths that could lead you to be successful in a role like this; we think the strongest candidates will have some of this experience:
  • Experience owning marketing technology or related systems, with examples of independently prioritizing and delivering work across acquisition and lifecycle marketing, including customer engagement platforms.
  • Strong SQL skills and hands-on experience building integrations with APIs, webhooks, and cloud data warehouses. You can write, test, debug, and deploy code using shared development tools and review practices.
  • Hands-on experience administering GA4 and maintaining advertising conversion integrations, including browser- and server-side tracking and audience syncs. You understand how identity, permissions, and data quality affect measurement and campaign execution.
  • A track record of operating systems after launch. You know how to monitor failures, investigate unexpected results, recover from problems, and prevent them from recurring.
  • Clear communication and sound judgment. You can turn a marketer9s goal into technical requirements, work through tradeoffs with Data and Engineering, and explain your decisions in plain English.

Our current stack includes Snowflake, Segment, Polytomic, Customer.io, Salesforce, Dato, GA4, Rockerbox, and major search and social advertising platforms. Experience with these tools or comparable systems is valuable; we don9t expect you to have used every one.
