Job Description

The School of Nursing has an outstanding opportunity for a Marketing Manager to join their team.

About this Opportunity

The Marketing Manager leads audience-facing marketing execution for the University of Washington School of Nursing, with primary responsibility for digital advertising, social media and content, email marketing and marketing automation, and performance analytics.

This role exists to grow the School's public position. Working within the strategy set by the Director of Strategic Marketing Communications & Program Growth, the Marketing Manager plans and runs the campaigns that generate program inquiries, move prospective students toward application, promote the school’s reputation as a leading institution for nursing education and nursing research, and build sustained audience engagement across the School's channels. The role owns the creative that lives in those channels, including advertising, social, email, and digital, and is accountable for building, implementing, and assessing the effectiveness of that work.

The Marketing Manager brings independent judgment to the School's approach to reaching its audiences. This is a builder's role during a period of significant institutional opportunity: the School operates at the top tier of nursing education nationally, and the University's entry into the Big Ten expands both the audience and the competitive set.

The position works closely with the Office of Student and Academic Affairs, the Dean's Office, Advancement, and the LT&IT/MarComm joint web governance group. The incumbent is expected to identify trends, recognize reputational risk, source opportunities for community engagement and thought leadership, and protect the School of Nursing brand. The Marketing Manger will also work in close daily partnership with the Associate Director on creative direction, brand standards, content planning, and integrated campaign work

The Marketing Manager will report to the Director of Strategic Marketing Communications & Program Growth during the onboarding period. Supervision transitions to the Associate Director of Brand & Communications upon completion of onboarding, at a point determined by the Director.

  • Manage campaign budgets, pacing, and optimization; recommend reallocation based on performance
  • Build and refine audience segments and targeting strategies for program-specific recruitment

  • Partner with OSAA and Admissions to align campaign timing with recruitment cycles and application deadlines
  • Support marketing planning for new and revised academic programs
  • Coordinate with University Marketing & Communications on shared platforms and standards

Social Media & Content — 25%

  • Develop and execute social media strategy across the School's channels, including Meta, LinkedIn, and YouTube
  • Write copy and create original content, including but not limited to static, video, and interactive items, promoting programs, faculty achievements, student success, research, and innovation

Email Marketing and CRM Management — 25%

  • Own the School's UW-enterprise email marketing program end-to-end as a primary administrator, responsible for building, segmenting, scheduling, testing, and reporting on published content. (In November 2026, the UW will be migrating from Marketo, which will require this role to participate in template rebuild, list migration, and workflow reconstruction)
  • Support the Office of Student Services and Advising in the digital recruitment process by building, scheduling, testing, and sending  promotional email content in Salesforce Account Engagement
  • Partner with program units on their email needs, providing setup support, templates, and quality review
