Full Job Description
Why this role is on the menu

Instacart is the leading online grocery company in Canada, serving 98% of households across 10 provinces and 100 retail banners. The grocery delivery category is competitive and growing rapidly, and this role is responsible for building Instacart's brand and business in Canada.

We're looking for a Marketing Manager II to own consumer marketing for Canada. You'll be responsible for the national go-to-market strategy and execution across integrated campaigns, local content, and partnerships - working closely with our brand, media, creative, CRM, and agency partners to deliver work that drives measurable outcomes and makes an impact locally. This role reports to the Director, Partnerships & Strategic Audience Marketing.

This is a high-ownership role on a lean, fast-moving team. You'll move fluidly between campaign strategy and execution - developing briefs, partnering with cross-functional teams, and executing. On the partnership side, you'll serve as a trusted external counterpart to partners and agencies, bringing equal parts rigor and creativity from brief through performance review. The ideal candidate brings sound judgment, a genuine feel for what resonates with Canadian consumers, and the discipline to deliver quality work across multiple concurrent programs.

What you'll cook up in your first year
  • Instacart's Canadian brand and business growth is informed by deep consumer, category, and competitive insights - with you as the resident expert on the Canadian audience.
  • Canada-led and US-adapted marketing campaigns are executed end-to-end - from strategic brief through creative development and performance evaluation - in close collaboration with cross-functional partners.
  • The Canadian influencer program produces local, engaging content that fuels performance, developed in close partnership with our media team and agency partners.
  • Key brand partnerships are activated to deepen Instacart's connection with local audiences through culturally relevant, distinct activations.
  • Campaigns and content reaching Canadian consumers are accurate, culturally relevant, and on brand - with localization expertise applied across owned and paid content.
  • Canada procurement processes and monthly marketing budget tracking are managed on time and with precision.

About Instacart

Instacart is an American company that operates a grocery delivery and pick-up service in the United States and Canada. The company offers its services via a website and mobile app. The service allows customers to order groceries from participating retailers with the shopping being done by a personal shopper. Instacart was founded in 2012 by entrepreneur Apoorva Mehta, a former Amazon.com employee. Apoorva was born in India and moved with his family to Canada in 2000. He studied engineering at the University of Waterloo and graduated in 2008. He was a participant in Y Combinator's Summer 2012 batch, which eventually led to the creation of Instacart. In 2013, Mehta was included on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list. Apoorva previously worked at BlackBerry, Qualcomm, and then Amazon as a supply chain engineer, where he developed fulfillment systems to move packages from Amazon's warehouses to customers' homes. Before founding Instacart, Apoorva had tried to start at least 20 other services. He tried building an ad network for social gaming companies, and developing a social network specifically for lawyers, among other start-ups. Instacart originally launched in San Francisco. By April 2015, the firm had about 200 employees. It introduced a new policy around June allowing some shoppers to choose to be part-time employees, starting with Chicago and Boston and extending its offer to shoppers in Atlanta, Miami, and Washington D.C. the following month.
