This is a true market leadership role, with responsibilities shared between St. Anthony Summit Hospital and the Denver Market. Candidates may reside within the Denver metropolitan area and should expect regular travel to Summit, typically at least two days per week, with additional on-site presence based on business needs and strategic priorities.

Serving one of Colorado's most unique healthcare markets, this position offers the opportunity to influence care delivery across diverse communities—from the mountain region of Summit County to the greater Denver metropolitan area. The role combines strategic executive leadership with meaningful engagement alongside physicians, hospital leaders, and clinical teams to drive measurable improvements in quality, safety, physician engagement, and clinical excellence.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

The Market Chief Medical Officer (MCMO) is a senior physician executive responsible for driving clinical excellence, quality, patient safety, and physician engagement across the Denver Market. This leader partners closely with hospital executives, physician leaders, and operational teams to advance high-quality, patient-centered care while improving clinical performance, regulatory readiness, and organizational outcomes. Leveraging data, analytics, and evidence-based practices, the MCMO helps drive measurable improvements in quality, safety, operational performance, and the delivery of exceptional patient care.

Serving in a dual leadership capacity, the MCMO provides executive physician leadership for St. Anthony Summit Hospital while partnering across the Denver Market to advance strategic clinical initiatives, performance improvement, and the standardization of best practices. This role requires a highly collaborative physician executive who can influence across multiple hospitals, build trusted relationships with physicians and executive leaders, and successfully lead transformational initiatives that improve quality, clinical outcomes, physician engagement, and operational excellence. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable developing long-term strategy, interpreting clinical and operational data, and partnering with leaders to implement meaningful, sustainable change.

The MCMO reports directly to the Hospital President/CEO for local responsibilities and maintains a dotted-line relationship to the Regional Chief Medical Officer (RCMO) and Market President for market-wide priorities. In partnership with the Market Chief Nurse Executive (MCNE), this leader serves as a key advisor on clinical strategy, fosters alignment across hospitals, and drives initiatives that strengthen care delivery, physician collaboration, and organizational performance throughout the Denver Market.
