Marine Surveyor in Los Angeles PRIMARY PURPOSE: To inspect cargo damaged in transit and determine the nature, cause, and extent of damages; to review documents to determine when the cargo was damaged; and to provide written reports to underwriters and other parties with his/her qualified opinion as to the cause of loss. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES • Oversees loading and unloading of cargo from ships and other forms of transit to document damages as they are loaded and/or unloaded. • Inspects damaged ships to determine cause of the damage and amount of damage resulting from collisions or motor failures. ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES • Performs other duties as assigned. • Supports the organization's quality program(s). • Travels as required. QUALIFICATIONS Education & Licensing Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred. Experience Five (5) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
