Full Job Description
The Opportunity:

Tetra Tech is adding a Marine and Waterfront Engineer to our team based in New York.

Position Summary:

The Project Engineer will work across the full project lifecycle, contributing to inspections, design calculations, and delivery of solutions for bulkheads, piers, terminals, and shoreline protection systems while coordinating with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.

Essential Job Functions:

• Lead the technical aspects of project deliverables, including the preparation of contract drawings, specifications, cost estimates, permit applications, inspection reports, and calculation packages
• Oversee the structural, coastal, and geotechnical engineering design of concrete, steel, timber, and masonry structures in accordance with relevant codes and standards.
• Conduct above-water inspections of marine structures
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, external consultants, government agencies, and internal teams, providing technical guidance and oversight.

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software (to include Word, Excel, Project) required.


Physical Requirements:
• Ability to perform field work in outdoor marine and coastal environments, including walking on uneven terrain, docks, and active construction sites.
• Ability to climb ladders, access elevated or confined areas, and conduct above-water inspections of structures.
• Must be able to lift and carry equipment up to 25-30 pounds.
• Comfortable working in varying weather conditions and near or over water.
• Ability to travel to project sites as needed.

Work Environment / Environmental Factors:
• This role includes a combination of office and field-based work.
• Field assignments may involve active construction sites, marine terminals, and waterfront environments with exposure to moving equipment, noise, and varying weather conditions.
• Work may be performed near or over water and in areas with limited access or uneven surfaces.
• Occasional travel to project sites is required.
