Overview

Hexagon’s Autonomous Solutions division is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our high-tech engineering and manufacturing team, committed to customer service excellence and continuous improvement.

In this role, you will develop innovative manufacturing solutions for electronic enclosure products. You will work collaboratively with Product Development and Production teams by providing Design for Manufacturing (DfM) input and defining manufacturing requirements. This includes developing Process Flow Diagrams, conducting PFMEAs, and creating Control Plans. You will also partner with Product Development on custom part design by evaluating manufacturability, understanding supplier capabilities, and defining inspection criteria. In addition, you will be responsible for the design, verification, and validation of assembly fixtures and jigs, contributing to world-class manufacturing solutions that meet or exceed targets for Product Quality and Delivery.

The Team

You will be part of a cross-functional Manufacturing Process Engineering team supporting both New Product Introduction (NPI) and sustaining production. The team works closely with Product Design, Supplier Quality, and Production to deliver robust, scalable manufacturing processes and drive continuous improvement across the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities

As a Manufacturing Engineer, responsibilities include:

  • Provide direct line support for 8D investigations of production issues
  • Monitor and analyze production yields and performance indicators
  • Implement continuous process improvements
  • Define manufacturing strategy and conceptual process design for new products, including risk identification and development effort estimation to meet product quality and on-time delivery requirements
  • Apply Design for Manufacturing (DfM) principles
  • Collaborate with Product Designers to analyze new assemblies and custom parts to ensure high manufacturability
  • Design manufacturing solutions supporting Lean Production, including Process Flow Diagrams, PFMEAs, Control Plans, Plans for Every Part, and other PPAP deliverables (coordinating across functional teams)
  • Develop and validate work instructions, assembly fixtures, and production aids
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) builds
  • Create Manufacturing BOMs (MBOMs) from Engineering BOMs (EBOMs) in ERP/PLM systems
  • Lead prototype and pilot builds; generate pilot build reports, facilitate review meetings, and drive resolution of process and product issues to meet defined targets
  • Collaborate with Supplier Quality on supplier selection and audits to ensure processes meet required standards
  • Provide real-time production support by troubleshooting manufacturing process and equipment issues, engaging cross-functional teams as required (Product Design, Quality)
  • Monitor process performance, investigate deviations, and implement corrective actions including process improvements or product changes
  • Review and validate the impact of engineering changes and implement required updates to manufacturing processes
  • Research, select, validate, and deploy new manufacturing equipment and capabilities into production

 

 

Qualifications

Must-Have

  • Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering degree or diploma, with 4+ years of experience in a high-tech manufacturing environment
  • Formal training and hands-on experience with root cause analysis and structured problem-solving tools
  • Experience developing and using PFMEAs and Control Plans
  • Proven experience implementing manufacturing process improvements
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Excellent communication skills, including technical report writing and driving actions to completion
  • Advanced computer skills (MS Office, 3D modeling tools, etc.)
Nice-to-Have
  • Lean Bronze Certification (or higher)
  • Experience with CNC programming and fixturing
  • Experience with SAP and MBOM creation
