Job Summary:

We are looking for a talented Manufacturing Shop Operations Team Manager at Jamestown Engine Plant. This role is responsible for leading day-to-day shop operations, ensuring the safe and efficient execution of the daily production plan while maximizing resource utilization and meeting performance expectations. As a frontline leader, you will play a critical role in maintaining operational discipline, supporting continuous improvement efforts, and fostering a culture of accountability, consistency, and strong communication across the team.

In this position, you will oversee direct reports by managing timekeeping processes to ensure accurate recording of work hours and consistent application of attendance policies. You will lead performance and behavior management through coaching, mentoring, and when necessary, the application of progressive discipline, while building strong manager-employee relationships grounded in trust and clarity. Success in this role requires strong communication skills and a demonstrated ability to develop and coach team members. You will also lead project initiatives from start to finish and collaborate cross-functionally to develop and close Corrective Action Responses (CARs), ensuring sustainable solutions and continuous operational improvement. Supervisory experience is preferred, along with the ability to lead in a fast-paced, team-oriented manufacturing environment.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
  • Manage Daily Operations: Oversee the day-to-day activities of the production team, ensuring smooth workflows and adherence to operational standards.
  • Lead Team Members: Provide clear direction, set expectations, and clarify responsibilities to help team members achieve goals effectively.
  • Ensure Production Targets: Monitor progress and drive performance to consistently meet or exceed production objectives.
  • Promote Safety and Quality: Collaborate across functions to identify and implement improvements in safety, productivity, quality, and efficiency.
  • Serve as Project Lead: Take ownership of projects and work assignments, coordinating efforts to deliver successful outcomes.
  • Provide Guidance and Feedback: Support team members through constructive feedback and actionable insights to enhance performance.
  • Coach and Mentor: Foster professional growth by mentoring team members and developing their skills for long-term success.
  • Maintain Housekeeping Standards: Ensure a clean, organized, and compliant work environment that supports operational excellence.

  • Manage the timekeeping system for direct reports to assure work time is correctly recorded and that attendance policies are applied uniformly and correctly.
  • Manage performance and behavior of direct reports through coaching, mentoring, and when needed, through use of the Progressive Discipline Policy.
  • Oversee execution of the daily Production Plan, managing application resources to maximize results.
  • Build productive manager-subordinate relationships with direct reports such that communications are effective along with effective application of policies and procedures.
  • Strong communication skills required. Strong ability to develop and coach staff.
  • Project work- ability to lead a Project group- start to finish.
  • CARs- Ability to work well with cross functional teams to develop and close Corrective Action Responses
  • The expectation is that this role is 100% onsite
