Overview:

The Manufacturing Safety Engineer responsible for day-to-day EHS program execution across the Webster, NY manufacturing campus, including hazard analysis, incident investigation, regulatory compliance, and safety training across multiple plants. Also coordinates emergency response programs and drills across campus facilities.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Conduct hazard identification and control analysis for manufacturing activities - including work processes, equipment, and materials
  • Translate regulatory and corporate safety requirements into practical, floor-level action plans for campus manufacturing operations.
  • Coordinate Medical Emergency Response Team (MERT) training and program activities and conduct emergency response drills across the Webster campus.
  • Measure and analyze safety key performance indicators (KPIs) and conduct trend reporting to support data-driven safety decisions.
  • Administer core safety programs (e.g., LOTO, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Hot Work, Electrical Safety, Emergency Preparedness, Hearing Conservation, Respirator Protection).
  • Conduct incident investigations using root cause analysis methodologies and track corrective and preventive actions to completion.
  • Monitor regulatory changes, conduct impact assessments and develop change management plans, escalating complex or novel issues to senior EHS staff for resolution.
  • Perform compliance inspections, audits, and management reviews, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of EHS programs across campus manufacturing plants.
  • Drive the standardization of safety processes and procedures across all Webster campus manufacturing plants.
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs; assess training effectiveness and compliance, consulting with senior EHS staff on program design and content strategy.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in a technical discipline (e.g., Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering) or equivalent experience.
  • OSHA 10/30-Hour General Industry certification completed or in progress.
  • Current CSP and/or CIH accreditation or eligibility and willingness to pursue.
  • 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing safety or a related EHS role; familiarity with complex workflows and integrated automation preferred.
  • Experience in a unionized environment is preferred.
  • Solid ability to interpret and apply regulatory frameworks (e.g., OSHA) to manufacturing floor practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact effectively within the department and with occasional inter-organizational and external contacts on routine matters.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and related software applications.
  • Ability to use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including respirators.

Additional Information:

  • Valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation required; this role involves regular travel between campus plants that are not accessible by foot.
