Inside the Role

The Paint Production Supervisor is responsible for leading a team of hourly employees and Team Leaders to safely deliver production targets while maintaining the highest standards of quality, environmental compliance, and operational efficiency. This role provides frontline leadership for daily paint operations, drives continuous improvement initiatives, develops employee capabilities, and ensures adherence to Daimler Truck's safety, quality, and manufacturing standards.

The successful candidate is a strong people leader who can build trust, drive accountability, solve problems rapidly, and create a culture focused on safety, quality, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Production & Operational Excellence

  • Manage daily manpower allocation and production execution to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.

  • Monitor production performance and implement actions to address operational disruptions.

  • Ensure adherence to standardized work and manufacturing processes.

  • Support production recovery plans and rapidly respond to downtime events.

Quality Management

  • Drive a culture of "quality at the source."

  • Investigate quality concerns and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

  • Support continuous improvement of paint appearance, process capability, and customer satisfaction metrics.

  • Ensure compliance with established paint process standards and work instructions.

Continuous Improvement

  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing and Truck Operating System (TOS) principles.

  • Utilize structured problem-solving methodologies to eliminate waste and improve operational performance.

  • Support implementation of process improvements that improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost.

Data Analysis & Problem Solving

  • Analyze operational data and performance metrics to identify opportunities and drive improvements.

  • Utilize KPI trends, downtime data, quality metrics, and labor performance indicators to make data-driven decisions.

  • Lead cross-functional teams in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.

Knowledge You Should Bring

  • Bachelor's degree OR equivalent leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in manufacturing, industrial operations, or automotive production.

  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams in a fast-paced environment.

Exceptional Candidates Might Have

  • Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or related field.

  • Experience in paint, coating, finishing, chemical process, or automotive manufacturing operations.

  • Experience leading hourly production employees in a union or non-union environment.

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and TOS principles.

  • Experience utilizing data and analytics to improve operational performance.

  • Understanding of paint quality systems, environmental compliance requirements, and manufacturing process controls.

  • Experience leading production recovery efforts and managing multiple priorities in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
