About the RoleAs our first Manufacturing Process & Configuration Specialist, you will own the systems and standards that keep our production floor running cleanly, including work instructions and process plans. You will work directly with our manufacturing engineers to translate validated processes into clear, accurate, and maintainable written artifacts.
This is a high-ownership, high-visibility role at a company that moves quickly. You will build systems from scratch, set standards that scale, and interface daily with engineers, technicians, and cross-functional partners. We are looking for someone who is organized, technically literate, and energized by bringing order to complexity.
Responsibilities- Partner with manufacturing engineers to document validated processes into clear, standardized work instructions, process plans, and procedures by translating engineering knowledge into technician-ready artifacts
- Own and maintain the documentation library for manufacturing processes, keeping work instructions current, organized, and revision-controlled as products and processes evolve
- Develop and maintain standardized templates for work instructions, process plans, NCR write-ups, and other recurring documentation types across the manufacturing engineering team
- Maintaining cleanliness and accuracy of our manufacturing execution system, clearing obsolete content, and ensuring work instructions are accurate and up to date
- Write how-to guides and training materials for process plan writing, NCR documentation, and MES usage for team members outside of manufacturing engineering
- Own the organization, structure, and ongoing maintenance of our manufacturing Confluence space, ensuring it is navigable, current, and useful
- Support NPI campaigns by capturing lessons learned and contributing to an evolving NPI guide that prevents the team from re-solving known problems across programs
- Identify gaps, inconsistencies, and opportunities for standardization across documentation systems and proactively drive improvements
Requirements- 2+ years of experience in a technical writing, configuration management, or documentation role in a manufacturing or engineering environment
- Strong technical literacy - comfortable reading engineering drawings, work instructions, and process documentation, and able to ask the right questions when something is unclear
- Demonstrated ability to produce clear, unambiguous written documentation that non-expert readers can follow without hand-holding
- Experience working with MES, ERP, or PLM systems in a production environment
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple concurrent documentation workstreams
- Comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment where processes are still being developed and standards are being set for the first time
Preferred Requirements- Experience in aerospace, defense, or other high-reliability manufacturing environments
- Familiarity with AS9100 documentation requirements and configuration control practices
- Experience with Confluence, SharePoint, or similar knowledge management platforms
- Background in configuration management or change control processes
- Experience supporting NPI or production ramp programs
- Exposure to lean manufacturing environments and the documentation practices that support them
