MANUFACTURING ENGINEER

1. POSITION SNAPSHOT

In this role you will improve how FlackTek products are built by driving consistency, efficiency, and quality across the production floor. You will work hands-on with production teams to resolve build issues, strengthen processes, and ensure clear, accurate documentation that supports repeatable assembly. This role plays a critical part in reducing rework, improving throughput, and ensuring engineering intent is successfully translated into production reality. You will partner cross-functionally to identify root causes, implement practical solutions, and prevent recurring issues as the company scales.

This role reports to the: Engineering Director

2. PRIMARY OUTCOMES
  • Reduction in recurring production issues = 30 percent within first 6 months
  • Average time to resolve production issues = 48 hours
  • Reduction in scrap and rework costs = 20 percent year over year
  • Work instruction accuracy and usability score = 95 percent from production feedback
  • Percentage of process issues tracked to closure = 100 percent
  • Improvement in production efficiency metrics such as labor hours per build = 15 percent
  • First build issue identification rate = 90 percent prior to full production release

3. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support production teams with day-to-day assembly issues and process questions
  • Observe production floor activities to identify inefficiencies and inconsistencies
  • Evaluate and improve assembly methods, tooling, fixtures, and workflows
  • Verify adherence to work instructions, torque specs, and revision controls
  • Document process issues including impact, root cause, and next steps
  • Track and drive resolution of open production and process issues
  • Identify opportunities to reduce scrap, rework, and wasted labor
  • Develop and propose practical process improvements with measurable impact
  • Support root-cause analysis for recurring build and process failures
  • Implement corrective actions to prevent issue recurrence
  • Participate in engineering change reviews with manufacturing input
  • Support first builds of new or revised products
  • Create and maintain clear work instructions and production documentation
  • Train production staff on updated processes and requirements
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and purchasing teams
  • Strengthen process discipline and documentation standards

4. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience:
    • 3 to 5 years of experience in manufacturing, production engineering, or similar environment
  • Technical Skills:
    • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, bills of materials, and technical documentation
    • Strong troubleshooting and root-cause problem-solving skills
    • Working knowledge of assembly processes, tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing flow
    • Ability to clearly document findings and track issues through resolution


5. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Preferred Experience:
    • Experience in low-volume, high-mix manufacturing or complex electromechanical systems
    • Experience supporting new product introductions, engineering changes, or production launches
  • Preferred Skills:
    • Familiarity with root-cause analysis tools such as 5 Why or 8D
    • Experience improving work instructions and production documentation
    • Exposure to ERP or production tracking systems
    • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles

7. WORK LOCATION, SCHEDULE & TRAVEL
  • Role Type: Full Time - Exempt
  • Location: Onsite, in person in Louisville, CO
  • Regular Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am - 5pm
  • Travel: Up to 10% (domestic)

8. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
  • Compensation:
    • Annual Base Salary Range: $78,000 - $95,000
