Job Description

Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer - External Supply Chain

Working Pattern: Hybrid (3 office days a week)

Working Location: Indianapolis, IN

With this attractive opportunity you will act as Technical Authority for the Supplier Management Team by integrating Manufacturing Engineering activities across the product lifecycle and through the supply chain. Professionally accountable to the Supplier Technical Assurance Manager, you will evaluate Methods of Manufacture and compliance to Design Intent while ensuring consistency delivering quality, cost, delivery rate and lead time.

What you will be doing:

  • Ensure product integrity for component or system is delivered through alignment of method of manufacture with design intent by interfacing with the appropriate design engineering organization
  • Utilize technical packages to establish best practices and influencing commodity strategies and sourcing decisions with technical knowledge
  • Ensure method of manufacture for new components are developed which meet the customers' requirements for quality, cost, delivery and responsiveness, and ensuring the level of performance is sustainable
  • Validate the supplier27s method of manufacture and capability, through deployment of FAIR process and facilitate approval/change control of method changes through Method Verification process
  • Approve component airworthiness through the processing of critical data associated with component definition, associated specifications, and compliance to Rolls-Royce procedures
  • Ability to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally

Basic Requirements:

  • Associate degree with 4+ years of Manufacturing Engineering experience, OR
  • Bachelor27s degree with 2+ years of Manufacturing Engineering experience, OR
  • Master27s degree in, OR
  • PhD, OR
  • 6+ years of Manufacturing Engineering experience in lieu of a degree
  • In order to be eligible for consideration, you must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience working with castings and/or forgings either producing or processing downstream
  • Demonstrated ability to discuss both technical and business issues with all levels of management within the supply chain and with customers
  • Experience bringing diverse groups together to resolve technical issues and problems and perform root cause analysis
  • Understanding of metal removal and processing of Aerospace components
  • Knowledge of FAIR (First Article Inspection Report) process, APQP, and PPAP
  • Practical knowledge of source/method change and classified parts control
  • Experience solving problems using a structured approach
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and / or Black Belt certification
