Job Description:

The Mapleton Foundry is one of the largest in the United States and home to the largest core making machine in the world! Working at the foundry is hard work that demands focus and safety, quality, and commitment to helping our customers build a better world. With over 800 employees at the foundry, we are looking for someone who can support process development projects for the continuous improvement of the safety, quality, velocity and cost of manufacturing.

Role Definition

Provides support and guidance on all aspects of production, costs, quality, compliance to safety guidelines, and environmental requirements for manufacturing.

What you will do:

• Participating in identifying and implementing enhancements and modifications to

equipment and processes.

• Monitoring equipment and process reliability; identifying and addressing problem areas.

• Analyzing engineering change notices, determines any part or process change, initiates

and implements all changes.

• Providing engineering support on planning, development, operation, and maintenance

of equipment, processes, or facilities.

Degree Requirement:

Degree or equivalent experience desired

What you will have:

Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Basic knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

Engineering - MFG: Working knowledge of processes, techniques and methods of engineering in a manufacturing environment; ability to design and implement materials, structures, machines, devices, systems and processes that safely realize a desired objective or invention.

Lean Manufacturing: Basic knowledge of the philosophy, principles and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes.

Manufacturing Processes: Working knowledge of existing product manufacturing methods, technologies and processes; ability to execute, plan, manage and monitor the entire manufacturing process.

Problem Solving: Basic knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

Top candidates will possess:

  • Previous foundry experience

  • Six Sigma Green Belt

  • Previous production operations experience

  • Intermediate-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to effectively leverage spreadsheets to support production reporting and operational decision-making.

Summary Pay Range:

$89,210.00 - $133,810.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
