ole Overview

The Managing Director, B2B is a senior client and practice leader responsible for helping B2B brands solve complex growth challenges through integrated strategy, media, account-based marketing, data, and technology.

This individual will serve as the senior strategic lead for approximately four priority clients, building trusted relationships with executive stakeholders while guiding cross-functional teams toward measurable business outcomes. They will also play a central role in new business-shaping differentiated B2B strategies, leading pitch development, and representing the agency's B2B capabilities in high-stakes client engagements.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned B2B strategist who understands how modern buying groups make decisions and can connect brand building, demand generation, ABM, media, data, content, and technology into a cohesive growth strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Client Leadership
  • Serve as the senior strategic and relationship lead for approximately four priority B2B clients.
  • Build trusted relationships with senior marketing, sales, digital, and business leaders, including C-suite stakeholders.
  • Develop a deep understanding of each client's business model, growth priorities, customer segments, buying audiences, competitive environment, and commercial objectives.
  • Translate complex business challenges into clear, actionable marketing and media strategies.
  • Provide senior-level guidance to client teams, ensuring work is strategically rigorous, integrated, differentiated, and aligned to measurable business outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities to expand client relationships by anticipating needs and introducing relevant capabilities, partners, and solutions.
  • Navigate complex client organizations and serve as a confident, solutions-oriented point of escalation when needed.
B2B Strategy
  • Lead the development of integrated B2B strategies spanning brand, demand generation, customer acquisition, account growth, and retention.
  • Apply a deep understanding of long and complex sales cycles, buying committees, category dynamics, and the relationship between marketing and sales.
  • Connect upper-funnel brand investment with lower-funnel demand, pipeline, and revenue objectives.
  • Guide audience, content, channel, and measurement strategies across the full buyer journey.
  • Ensure strategic recommendations reflect the needs of multiple decision-makers and influencers within an account.
  • Turn market, audience, customer, intent, and performance data into clear strategic direction.
Account-Based Marketing
  • Advise clients on the development and evolution of their ABM strategies, including 1, 1, and 1:1 programs.
  • Help clients determine the appropriate balance between broad demand generation and account-based activation.
  • Guide account selection, segmentation, buying-group identification, personalization, orchestration, and measurement.
  • Connect ABM strategy across marketing, media, sales, CRM, content, and technology teams.
  • Evaluate ABM program maturity and establish practical roadmaps that enable clients to scale over time.
  • Ensure ABM programs are grounded in customer value, strong audience intelligence, and clearly defined business outcomes.
B2B Technology and Data
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of the B2B marketing technology ecosystem, including ABM platforms, intent data, CRM, marketing automation, content syndication, identity and audience solutions, activation platforms, and measurement tools.
  • Understand how platforms such as Demandbase, 6sense, Salesforce, Adobe, HubSpot, LinkedIn, and other B2B data and technology partners contribute to an integrated marketing ecosystem.
  • Help clients assess how data and technology should be connected across audience development, activation, personalization, sales enablement, and measurement.
  • Partner with data, analytics, activation, and technology specialists to translate platform capabilities into meaningful business applications.
  • Provide informed, objective guidance on technology and partner selection without allowing the technology itself to dictate the strategy.
  • Stay current on emerging developments in AI, buying-group intelligence, intent, identity, personalization, and B2B measurement.
New Business and Practice Growth
  • Play a leadership role in new-business opportunities, from initial discovery and strategic development through pitch delivery.
  • Develop compelling B2B growth narratives that connect client challenges to differentiated agency solutions.
  • Partner with strategy, media, data, analytics, creative, technology, and commercial leaders to build integrated proposals.
  • Lead or contribute to executive-level pitch presentations, workshops, and chemistry meetings.
  • Help codify and evolve the agency's B2B methodologies, products, thought leadership, and go-to-market story.
  • Identify emerging client needs and market opportunities that can inform new capabilities and commercial offerings.
  • Represent the B2B practice at industry events, client forums, and partner engagements as appropriate.
Team Leadership
  • Provide senior direction and mentorship to multidisciplinary client teams.
  • Establish a clear strategic vision while empowering functional leaders to deliver against it.
  • Create alignment across strategy, media, creative, data, analytics, technology, and account leadership.
  • Raise the quality of strategic thinking, client counsel, and executive communication across the practice.
  • Develop talent by coaching team members, creating growth opportunities, and encouraging collaboration.
  • Foster a culture of curiosity, accountability, inclusion, and commercial thinking.
Qualifications
  • Approximately 12-15+ years of experience in B2B marketing, strategy, media, consulting, agency leadership, or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience advising complex B2B organizations and senior client stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multiple major client relationships simultaneously.
  • Deep understanding of B2B audiences, buying groups, customer journeys, sales cycles, and go-to-market models.
  • Strong knowledge of brand strategy, demand generation, ABM, integrated media, data, technology, and measurement.
  • Working familiarity with leading ABM, CRM, marketing automation, intent-data, and B2B activation platforms.
  • Proven success leading or materially contributing to new-business pitches and organic account growth.
  • Ability to simplify complex business and technology concepts into clear strategic recommendations.
  • Strong executive presence, storytelling ability, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams within a matrixed organization.
  • Commercially minded, with the ability to connect marketing strategy to pipeline, revenue, customer growth, and enterprise value.
Leadership Attributes

The successful candidate will be:
  • A strategic thinker who can move confidently between enterprise growth challenges and activation details.
  • A trusted advisor who brings a clear point of view while remaining collaborative and pragmatic.
  • A relationship builder who can earn credibility with clients, internal teams, and external partners.
  • A translator who connects marketing, sales, media, data, and technology.
  • A modern B2B practitioner who understands that brand and demand must work together.
  • An inspiring leader who raises the ambition and quality of the work.
  • A growth-oriented operator who can identify opportunities and turn them into action.
Measures of Success

Success in this role will be demonstrated through:
  • Strong senior-level relationships and client satisfaction across the assigned portfolio.
  • High-quality, strategically consistent work that advances client business objectives.
  • Client retention and organic revenue growth.
  • Meaningful contributions to new-business wins.
  • Increased adoption and effectiveness of modern B2B and ABM capabilities.
