Do you have leadership experience in Underwriting Support Operations? We are looking for a Business Services Manager to take on end-to-end accountability for the delivery, performance, and development of the Treaty Business Services organization supporting the North American markets.

About the Role

As Manager, Business Services Treaty North America, you set clear priorities, ensure consistent quality and timely delivery, and act as a key interface between Underwriting, Client Markets, Finance, Risk, and global Operations partners. The role plays a critical part in driving operational stability, continuous improvement, and transformation aligned with the target operating model.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Lead, coach, and develop team leaders and team members, including goal setting, performance management, talent development, and succession planning
  • Set, monitor, and improve performance targets using defined KPIs and metrics covering quality, turnaround time, productivity, and operational risk.
  • Act as the primary Business Services representative for Treaty stakeholders in North America, building strong, trusted, and collaborative partnerships.
  • Ensure strong execution of core Treaty operational processes across the deal lifecycle, with a focus on quality, controls, and compliance.
  • Drive standardization, simplification, and automation in line with RBO principles and the global Target Operating Model (TOM).
  • Manage capacity planning and resource allocation across locations to ensure scalable and resilient service delivery.


Service & Delivery Ownership

  • Own the end-to-end delivery of the Treaty Business Services service catalogue for North America, covering submissions, renewals, and post-bind activities.
  • Ensure consistent execution of global standards, processes, and roles across markets and lines of business.
  • Proactively prepare the organization for peak renewal periods and changing market demands through effective demand and capacity planning.
  • Establish a strong performance culture focused on accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.


Change, Transformation & Standardization

  • Lead the regional implementation of strategic initiatives such as Underwriting task transfer, process harmonization, and operating model evolution.
  • Partner with global peers and Centers of Expertise to align ways of working and embed best practices across Treaty Business Services.
  • Identify and drive opportunities for digitization, automation, and simplification to improve efficiency and reduce operational risk.
  • Support the pilot, rollout, and stabilization of new services and delivery models within North America.


Operational Risk & Governance

  • Ensure a strong operational risk and control environment across all Treaty Business Services processes.
  • Maintain audit-ready operations, addressing findings and embedding sustainable remediation actions.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, underwriting standards, and relevant regulatory requirements.


About the Team

The Business Services Treaty team in North America is part of the global Reinsurance Business Operations (RBO) organization. The team supports Treaty Underwriting and Client Market teams across Property & Casualty lines in the United States and Canada, enabling underwriting excellence through strong operational execution, quality discipline, and effective stakeholder partnership. We work closely with colleagues across regions and global Centers of Expertise to deliver scalable, compliant, and standardized business services.

About You

You are an experienced people leader with a strong operational mindset, comfortable balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution. You take ownership, bring structure to complex environments, and constructively challenge the status quo.

Additional requirements include:

  • Proven experience leading Business Services, operations, or underwriting support teams within reinsurance, insurance, or financial services.
  • Strong understanding of Treaty reinsurance processes and the end-to-end underwriting lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated ability to stabilize and scale service delivery across markets while leading change initiatives.
  • Experience owning KPIs, capacity planning, and service performance in a matrix, multi-location environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with a data-driven approach to performance management.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across functions and regions.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.


Our company uses a hybrid work model requiring at least three days in the office each week, with the option to work onsite full-time if preferred. This position is not eligible for full-time telework and is not able to offer visa sponsorship.

The estimated base salary range for this position in Kansas City, MO is $108,000 to $162,000 and in Armonk, NY is $118,000 to $178,000. The specific salary offered for this or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget. At Swiss Re, we take a "total compensation approach" when making compensation decisions. This means that we consider all components of compensation in their totality (such as base pay, short-and long-term incentives, and benefits offered), in setting individual compensation.
