Summary Statement An incumbent in this class plans, organizes, staffs, budgets, and directs major strategic information systems projects, with emphasis on the agency's web presence, digital accessibility, and emerging technology. Duties include hands-on static website development, management of web developers and other technical resources, ensuring WCAG/Section 508 accessibility compliance across public-facing digital properties, and strategic oversight of artificial intelligence tools and implementations within IT project portfolios.
Preferred Qualification Applicants who do not possess the preferred qualification will still be eligible to compete for this position if job requirements are met.
- Experience with dynamic web development technologies which includes server-side scripting, back-end languages, database integration, API and web services, and content management systems (CMS).

- Assists clients in conducting business-driven needs assessment by diagnosing business issues and recommending alternative solutions to facilitate access to public information through effective utilization and coordination of information technology.
- Plans and directs major strategic information systems projects typically lasting more than a year, involving multi-agency initiatives.
- Establishes long and short-term goals, sets schedules and prioritizes the work.
- Monitors and evaluates the unit's resources and activities in order to meet goals and objectives.
- Develops and recommends project planning policies and procedures for statewide use.
- Participates in approving budget requests for information systems projects.
Job RequirementsJOB REQUIREMENTS for Manager Strategic Information Systems ProjectsApplicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:
- Three years experience in designing, developing and maintaining information systems.
- Three years experience in information technology project management which includes planning, scheduling, staffing, coordinating, controlling, monitoring, evaluating and reporting on status of IT projects.
- Six months experience in budget management and control which includes managing a budget for the purpose of keeping expenditures within the limitations of available appropriations and available revenue and maintaining, monitoring, projecting and controlling a budget within set policies and procedures.
- Six months experience in staff supervision which includes planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the work of others.
