POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Director of Engagement Platform Engineering, the Manager, Software Engineering will lead a high-performing team of engineers responsible for the integration and deployment of Sony's Engagement Platform across multiple business units. This platform, built on core foundational technologies from Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) and other internal groups, delivers shared capabilities in digital commerce, personalization, identity and account management, and developer enablement.

The Manager, Software Engineering will oversee full-stack development efforts, fostering a productive and collaborative engineering environment. This role plays a key part in scaling team capabilities and engineering excellence, while ensuring seamless platform integration across Sony Electronics, Sony Pictures, Sony Sports, and other Sony operating companies. The position requires close collaboration with global stakeholders, including business users, product managers, and cross-functional technical teams.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION

Your qualifications and experience should include:

  • Overall experience of at least 6 years in the software development industry


  • At least 2 years of people management experience, with experience managing multiple teams or one larger team


  • Able to manage, mentor, and empower teams, including other people managers


  • Proven leadership skills and a passion for building, maintaining, and deploying both internal business applications and highly available services


  • Strong communication, cross-group collaboration, and interpersonal skills. The ability to flex communication style to work with business and non-technical users in addition to engineers


  • Ability to balance priorities across multiple projects.


  • Ability to advise and influence technical discussions and decisions.


  • Experience with agile development practices emphasizing continuous improvement.


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience


  • Experience with Java, Kotlin, or similar technologies, and delivering microservices


  • Prior experience with one or more of the following technologies or areas is a plus: React, React Native

The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $195,000 to $210,000. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
