Are you a passionate, motivated Software Developer or Manager interested in a rewarding career in the Defense Industry? We are looking for a Software Manager with defense experience to join our Advanced Products and Solutions (APS) team at Raytheon in Fort Wayne, IN.

This position is responsible for managing the engineering development of software solutions for the APS area. As a Software Engineering Manager, you will work as a hands-on leader, both leading and contributing to a team of engineering professionals. You will be leading a diverse team of engineers, driving innovative solutions, and ensuring the successful execution of advanced technology programs.

What You Will Do
  • Leadership and Team Management:
    • Lead, organize, and develop a team of software engineers in the Advanced Product and Solutions group.
    • Conduct performance reviews, salary planning, and overall personnel development to ensure team growth and alignment with organizational goals.
    • Foster a collaborative and innovative environment to drive advanced product development.
  • Technology and Innovation:
    • Drive the development of innovative software solutions, leveraging emerging technologies to meet mission-critical needs.
    • Guide the team in adopting modern software development practices, including Agile and DevOps methodologies.
  • Process and Quality Management:
    • Ensure compliance with Raytheon's process and quality standards throughout the software development lifecycle.
    • Deliver projects aligned to cost, schedule, and quality requirements while adhering to organizational methodologies.
  • Training and Development:
    • Develop the team through training programs and skill-building initiatives, ensuring alignment with advanced product needs.

Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or STEM and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, OR an Advanced Degree and 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Previous experience managing multiple software programs and/or development tasks while meeting cost and schedule objectives.
  • Demonstrated experience across all phases of software product development including high-level understanding of software systems, architectures, and development.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.


Qualifications We Prefer
  • Strong background in Agile development concepts and DevOps practices for automated build/test/release pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience with modern software development tools and configuration management systems, such as GIT or Subversion.
  • Familiarity with advanced software architectures, including cloud-based solutions, real-time systems, and embedded software.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a technical team, make sound decisions, and accurately forecast project work and costs.
  • Knowledge of advanced product areas such as open architectures, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity, or mission-critical systems is highly desirable.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
