Full Job Description
UPMC Corporate Operations is hiring a Manager, Simulation Services to join our team! This role will work Monday through Friday during standard daylight business hours. At times, there will be local travel requirements to other WISER Satellite campuses.

The Manager provides support to the Director and Director of Operation of the WISER; also provides management for the operational support staff that supplies the support to operate and maintain the upkeep of the electronic human simulators used at WISER. Manages the staff in a manner to support the state-of-the-art educational and research missions of WISER.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative and operational support to the WISER Institute; effectively coordinate daily operational efforts of the WISER Institute.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of short, intermediate, and long-term teaching, research, and revenue-generating goals for the WISER Institute.
  • Perform periodic review and evaluation of program. Act as liaison to visitors to the department from outside the University, making all necessary arrangements.
  • Assist faculty orientation to principles of simulation training and debriefing techniques, and provide faculty with related literature. Assist with planning and execution of Continuing Medical Education (CME) courses, or other special courses. Assist with, promote, help identify, facilitate, and seek external funding sources for the WISER Institute.
  • Develop technical proficiency with all aspects of the operation, maintenance, support, troubleshooting, and repair of all of the WISER Institute and associated equipment within one year of hiring. Maintain all equipment and timely ordering and availability of supplies. Ensure that Simulator is in good working condition prior to the start of all simulations.
  • Supervise and train all simulation specialists within the WISER system.
  • Coordinate the organization and management of WISER Institute training calendar and reservation process.
  • Prepare the WISER Institute for and participate in all courses and educational exercises. Develop curriculum and educational materials for different levels and types of training related to the WISER Institute.

  • Prior supervisory (with a team) experience required.
  • One year experience working in a patient care area like the operating room, critical care area, EMS, or other healthcare is required.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Familiarity with operation of personal computers is essential, particularly windows-based environments, electronic mail, and spreadsheets.
  • Familiarity with audiovisual equipment is also desirable.
