Role Overview

This role is responsible for supporting Financial Planners related business inquiries and analytics, including target setting, Financial Planner performance analysis, compensation and scorecard design, and executive-ready reporting. The role partners with FP program office, product teams, finance, compensation, and data partners to translate business questions into clear analytical requirements, build repeatable reporting solutions, and provide actionable insights that support performance management and strategic decision-making for the Financial Planning channel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a trusted analytics advisor for Financial Planner related business questions, ensuring stakeholders have clear, timely, and data-driven answers.
  • Support target setting activities by developing analytical inputs, validating assumptions, assessing distribution fairness, and preparing scenarios for business review.
  • Produce Financial Planner performance analytics, including YTD / in-month trends, plan vs. actual performance, product mix, productivity, portfolio, tenure, and regional comparisons.
  • Translate business needs into analytical requirements, data definitions, reporting logic, and dashboard specifications.
  • Partner with compensation and business teams to support Financial Planner compensation and scorecard design, including measure selection, payout modelling, impact analysis, and issue resolution.
  • Design, develop, and maintain recurring reports, dashboards, and decision-support tools using appropriate analytics and visualization tools.
  • Identify emerging issues, trends, gaps, and opportunities through analysis; provide clear insights and recommendations to support leadership decision-making.
  • Integrate data from multiple sources to streamline reporting, automate manual processes, and improve reporting consistency and efficiency.
  • Perform data validation, reconciliation, quality checks, and user acceptance testing to ensure reporting outputs are accurate, reliable, and fit for purpose.
  • Document methodologies, business rules, data sources, operating procedures, and change impacts for key analytics and reporting processes.
  • Develop effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and cross-functional partners to deliver on business objectives.
  • Support ad-hoc deep dives, executive briefing materials, and broader analytics initiatives as business priorities evolve.


Qualifications
  • Post-secondary degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Analytics, Finance, Economics, or a related field of study; advanced degree considered an asset.
  • 2-3+ years of experience in data manipulation, analytics, business intelligence, performance reporting, sales analytics, finance analytics, or compensation analytics.
  • Familiarity with Financial Planning, Investments, sales force performance management, target setting, scorecards, or incentive compensation is a strong asset.
  • Strong technical capability in SQL, SAS, Excel, Power BI, SSRS, Python, Tableau, or similar analytics / reporting tools.
  • Ability to translate complex data and business rules into clear insights, recommendations, reporting logic, and stakeholder-ready narratives.
  • Strong attention to detail, with experience validating data, reconciling outputs, documenting assumptions, and maintaining high-quality reporting processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong collaboration, consulting, problem-solving, and influencing skills; comfortable working independently and managing non-routine analytical requests.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote reporting automation, self-serve analytics, and data-driven decision-making.


Preferred Capabilities
  • Experience supporting Financial Planner, advisor, branch, or specialized sales force reporting.
  • Experience with target allocation, compensation modelling, scorecard design, scenario analysis, and business impact assessment.
  • Ability to build executive-ready summaries that clearly explain what changed, why it changed, and what actions or decisions are required.


Salary:

$69,000.00 - $129,000.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group's expected target for the first year in this position.
