Full Job Description
What we're looking for:

The open manager role is on a team that directly influences internal risk adjustment coding operations and produces client-facing analytics. Our focus is on our retrospective risk adjustment coding product and the impact it has to our clients. If you are motivated by doing rigorous analytical and operations-focused work that has real downstream impacts to the results of our business, then this role is for you.

The incoming Risk Adjustment Analytics Manager will be leading a group of analysts and expected to act as a player-coach in many situations. We are looking for a hands-on manager who has experience and interest in providing guidance and mentorship to both junior and senior analysts while also getting their hands dirty in the data and providing content and subject matter expertise.

The ideal manager will be experienced working with a team spanning multiple time zones and flexible schedules and resilient and organized enough to navigate a fast-paced environment with seasonal periods of increased work load tied to risk adjustment program cycles and client deliverable windows.

The manager will collaborate with other managers and the department director to set strategy and mobilize the team to be as performant as possible. Keys to success will include: a curiosity in creating efficient analytic solutions that utilize a wide array of technology and data resources; proper planning and management of workloads; consistent and proactive communication both upwards, downwards, and laterally to surface ideas and identify risks and blockers before they become problems; and risk adjustment experience and subject matter expertise that allows you to hit the ground running and operate proactively vs reactively to the business needs.

The primary functions of the Business Analytics team are to create analytic solutions that support internal operations, ensuring that the work we do for our clients is optimized and successful, and then to tell the story of the results by creating external-facing content through partnership with our Customer Success team.

What you will do:
  • Set and lead the day-to-day work of your direct reports with guidance and collaboration from the director and other department managers
  • Coach and develop analysts - guiding their work and ensuring its accuracy
  • Develop core relationships with internal stakeholders on customer success and operations teams to ensure that the analytics team is always on the leading edge of problems as they develop and is well positioned to help create solutions
  • Stay informed of risk adjustment and healthcare industry trends and use this information to help train and educate the team of analysts and leverage this knowledge for business purposes
  • Create content that is both internal facing to partnering teams and executives, and external facing to customers
  • Develop analytics processes and solutions that maximize efficiency while maintaining a high level of integrity and quality of the work product
  • Evaluate and propose solutions to make the best use of available technology and data assets to aid in the team's work

What you need to succeed:
  • Critical thinking skills and a curiosity and desire to identify and solve complex business problems that span a large array of topics related to our core business functions
  • Successful track record leading and managing in a remote environment with a demonstrated ability to hold direct reports accountable for responsiveness, quality, and deadlines (2+ years)
  • 3+ years of experience working with Medicare, ACA, and/or Medicaid risk adjustment models
  • 5+ years of data analytics and technical experience
  • Strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple communication channels to track projects and communicate results, escalate problems, etc (slack, email, teleconferencing)
  • A strong attention to detail and meticulous diligence in checking work product before delivering to stakeholders
  • Strong data analytics technical skills to ensure you are able to coach and correct your direct reports and complete work assignments on your own (strong with SQL, preferably in a cloud environment such as Snowflake or Databricks, visualization/BI tools such as Sigma, Looker or Tableau, and strong spreadsheet skills for ad-hoc analytics work and summarization)
  • A degree or equivalent years of work experience in a technical capacity such as Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Actuarial Science, Economics, Statistics or Business with a technical focus

What sets you apart:
  • Experienced and highly skilled in Sigma (preferred - Looker/Tableau alternatively)
  • Experienced and highly skilled with cloud database environments and modern tools (Snowflake and dbt preferred)
  • Proficient with using SQL and Python for data analytics
  • Experience using Jira for workflow and project management
  • Experience using both Microsoft and Google office suite of products
  • Background and experience working in healthcare actuarial or medical economics departments with a focus on risk adjustment valuation and modeling
  • Experience creating and communicating executive-level content
