A Typical Day

The Regional Operational Capabilities Manager is responsible for leading the strategy, thought leadership, design, delivery and evaluation for operational technical training and foundational skill-building to support salaried and hourly operations employees at multiple sites for HCC. This role offers a broad scope, working collaboratively with HR business partners and business leaders to understand the training needs to ensure knowledge transfer and application to ensure the efficient production of safe, quality products in a high-performance work environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Partner with department leaders, supervision, training staff, and employees across the facility to develop a strategy to improve and optimize technical training processes, cultivate an exceptional culture that puts our values into action, encourages and enables everyone to contribute to each other's success, and builds operational capabilities
  • Collaborate with the Hilmar Site Operations Capabilities Manager to influence and share best practices
  • Understand and support the needs in a greenfield expansion environment, developing best practice methods for delivery in a new market, developing dairy industry knowledge and capability.
  • Develop customized learning by understanding and responding to individual learning needs
  • Work with the operations team to build, maintain and administer a unified qualification process and method for assessing progress
  • Lead, manage and develop the site training team to deliver training strategy
  • Partner to oversee the site electronic learning records and the overall progress of self-paced / computer-based learning processes
  • Ensure online learning materials are appropriately standardized, when applicable, to promote cross-facility sharing of resources in a timely manner
  • Develop KPIs, identifying learning opportunities, and managing change effectively
  • Lead the development of immersive learning to accelerate and assist operator development of knowledge and skill through ongoing verification
  • Partner directly with leadership at sites to implement emerging technologies throughout our workforce for the purpose of accelerating learning and development
  • Collaborate with site leadership to ensure learning initiatives and outcomes support operational initiatives appropriately
  • Support platform efforts for online operational learning materials standardization to promote cross-facility sharing of resources in a timely manner
  • In partnership with Site HR, oversee new hire onboarding process


What You Will Need

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Operations Management, L&D or related field plus 5 years related experience OR Master's degree in related field plus 1 year related experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and deliver technical training content to build measured competency.
  • Successful execution of operational training methods, preferably in a fast-paced, high-volume environment; manufacturing background a plus
  • Proficient working with Microsoft Office Software such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to foster trust, influence, coach and guide talent at all career stages, business leaders, and team
  • Problem solving skills, critical thinking, and self-initiative
  • Excellent written and verbal communication - especially presentation skills, interpersonal skills; high quality document and report preparation


What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor's degree plus 7 years related leadership experience in HR OR Master's degree plus 2 years related experience
  • Proficiency in at least one rapid eLearning development tool
  • Certifications in Leadership and/or Facilitation
  • Experience with graphic design, video editing, micro-learning, gamification, and simulations
