Job Summary

Manages a team that develops and implements procurement plans and strategies to meet forecasted needs for commodities, ensuring optimal pricing and terms. Coordinates with internal teams to establish negotiation strategies for commodity purchase agreements, leveraging market expertise to secure the best deals. Manages the purchasing process in accordance with established policies, using sound trade judgment to implement approved buying programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advises senior leadership on purchasing operations strategies and challenges, providing insights and recommendations to support business goals.
  • Attends meetings with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on procurement objectives and to address operational concerns related to purchasing activities.
  • Coordinates processes and assignments within the purchasing team to ensure efficient workflow, meeting deadlines and operational goals.
  • Ensures compliance with organizational policies, industry regulations, and supplier contracts, mitigating any risks related to purchasing activities.
  • Evaluates performance of the purchasing team, providing constructive feedback and guidance to ensure high performance and adherence to best practices.
  • Devises strategies to optimize purchasing operations, using data and analytics to drive improvements in purchasing cycles, cost reduction, and vendor management.
  • Educates team members on procurement policies, procedures, and industry standards, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development within the department.
  • Hires and trains new staff in the purchasing department, ensuring that team members possess the skills and knowledge required to excel in their roles.
  • Implements improvements to purchasing processes and systems, ensuring that purchasing operations are efficient, cost-effective, and aligned with the company's objectives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Required Education & Experience

    Minimum Education Level: Bachelor's Degree Years of Experience: 5-7 Years Field of Expertise: Procurement experience in manufacturing or distribution environment

    Specialized Degree: Supply Chain Management/Business Administration Licenses/Certificates: Certification in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM)) Years of Experience: 8-11 Years Field of Expertise: Procurement in manufacturing or distribution environment
