Position Summary

The Procurement Manager leads procurement and purchasing operations supporting mining, solvent extraction, processing, maintenance, and capital projects. This role is responsible for developing procurement systems and executing strategies that ensure the timely acquisition of materials, equipment, chemicals, spare parts, and services while optimizing cost, quality, availability, supply chain risk and supplier performance[PS1] . The Procurement Manager provides leadership to procurement personnel and serves as a strategic partner to Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Finance, and Project teams to support organizational objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop procurement personnel, providing day-to-day direction, performance management, and professional development.
  • Establish Mining & Processing specific procurement systems to support fast-track delivery of capital projects
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies, policies, and procedures that support operational reliability, inventory optimization, and cost management goals.
  • Manage strategic sourcing activities, supplier selection, contract negotiations, and vendor relationships to ensure competitive pricing, quality, and service levels.
  • Monitor supplier performance and supply chain risks, implementing mitigation strategies to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Warehouse teams to forecast material requirements and maintain appropriate inventory levels for production and maintenance activities.
  • Oversee procurement support for maintenance shutdowns, capital projects, and major equipment acquisitions.
  • Analyze procurement, inventory, and supplier performance data to identify cost savings, process improvements, and supply chain efficiencies.
  • Ensure procurement activities, contracts, and records comply with company policies, audit requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.
  • Manage departmental budgets, performance metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives to support business objectives.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive procurement, sourcing, or supply chain experience in mining, mineral processing, manufacturing, chemical processing, or other industrial environments.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Experience with strategic sourcing, supplier management, contract negotiations, inventory planning, and procurement compliance in both capital projects and operational environments
  • Proficiency with ERP and procurement systems and the ability to analyze procurement and inventory data to support operational decision-making.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting mining, solvent extraction, mineral processing, or other continuous-process operations.
  • Experience with leading procurement teams for very large capital projects
  • Experience leading procurement functions in a high-growth or rapidly evolving industrial environment.
  • Knowledge of MRO procurement, capital project purchasing, and critical spare parts management.
  • Demonstrated success implementing procurement process improvements, supplier performance programs, and cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Professional certifications such as CPSM, CPM, CSCP, or equivalent.


Work Environment
