Job Overview

This role provides leadership and accountability for the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) technology platform supporting R&D at DePuy Synthes. The position plays a critical role in enabling compliant, efficient, and scalable product development by aligning PLM capabilities with business strategy, regulatory requirements, and digital transformation objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide end0end ownership of the PLM technology platform, ensuring stable, secure, and compliant operations across the product lifecycle.
  • Define and execute the PLM platform strategy and roadmap in alignment with R&D, Quality, and enterprise IT objectives.
  • Partner with R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain stakeholders to translate business needs into effective PLM solutions.
  • Lead platform enhancements, system integrations, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize performance and usability.
  • Ensure PLM solutions meet global regulatory, quality, cybersecurity, and data governance requirements.
  • Manage vendor relationships, service delivery, and budget for PLM technologies and related services.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high0performing technology team, fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive adoption of standardized processes, data integrity, and digital best practices across the R&D technology landscape.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor0s degree required in Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Master0s degree preferred in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or Technology Management.

Experience and Skills

Required

  • 6-8 years of progressive experience in IT or digital technology roles supporting R&D, engineering, or product development organizations.
  • Strong technical skills managing and supporting Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) platforms, including system ownership, configuration, integrations, and upgrades.
  • Solid understanding of regulated product development environments, including design controls, change management, and data traceability.
  • Demonstrated business skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, value0driven outcomes for senior stakeholders.
  • Proven leadership skills, including people management, coaching, performance management, and building inclusive, high0performing teams.
  • Experience managing vendors, budgets, and service0level agreements for enterprise technology platforms.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills in a global, cross0functional environment.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting medical device, life sciences, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Knowledge of integrations between PLM and ERP, QMS, CAD, and manufacturing systems.
  • Experience leading digital transformation or modernization initiatives within R&D technology.
  • Familiarity with cloud0based PLM architectures and enterprise data governance practices.
  • Change management experience supporting global platform adoption and process standardization.

  • Travel: Up to 1020-20% international travel may be required.
  • Certifications: PLM, IT service management, or project management certifications preferred.

Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes.
