Purpose
The Manager, Payments Resiliency is responsible for supporting and executing a global payments resiliency framework, focused on documenting, and testing preventative measures as well as executing effective recovery strategies and tactics in the event of a payment systems outage. The payments resiliency framework supported by this individual and team will be responsible for safeguarding the bank's critical payment services from technology disruptions and outages as well as attacks and threats from malicious parties. In the event of an outage, this individual will support a cross functional team towards executing containment and recovery playbooks (that are part of the resiliency framework) to mitigate bank and customer impact.

What You'll Do
  • Engage in and support the incident response process for payment applications, including the timely identification, classification, prioritization, and resolution of payment-related incidents.
  • Prioritize efforts to identify and mitigate client impact during incidents and effectively communicate with clients and stakeholders to uphold trust and transparency.
  • Drive the identification, definition, and benefits quantification of operational change proposals created to improve resiliency through prevention and effective recovery from payment outages.
  • Supports the implementation of critical enhancements to the people, process and technologies to optimize business, operations and technology resiliency of our payment systems and services.
  • Optimize resilient operational processes and drives end to end operational efficiency by collaborating with payment transformation teams across business, operations, finance, compliance, AML, and technology.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the end-to-end payment process, working across operational teams in GWO (Global Wholesale Operations), MTO (money Transfer Operations), Treasury, Finance, Global Ops, BSC, Canadian Banking and Compliance to ensure successful implementation of target state processes.
  • Identify and track action items aimed at improving payments resiliency based on post-incident reviews and RCA findings. Ensure accountability and follow-up on action items to drive continuous improvement in payment systems reliability and stability.
  • Track and manage action items under the Problem Management Governance program, ensuring clear accountability and timely follow-up. Leverage insights from incidents to drive continuous improvement and strengthen the reliability, stability, and resiliency of GTB payment platforms.
  • Operates day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Bank's risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits. Communicates the Bank's risk culture and risk appetite statement throughout their teams.
  • Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.


What You'll Bring:
  • Spanish fluency is considered an asset.
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in payments operations, incident management, or related field.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Proven knowledge of the high-value payments domain including wire payments, SWIFT, ISO20022, FI Clearing, Financial Market Infrastructures (FMI), and other global RTGS models.
  • Solid knowledge of the domestic low-value payments domain including ACSS, EFTs, ACHs, bill payments, cheque processing and clearing, Interac and real time payment and settlement frameworks in production and underdevelopment.
  • An Agile mindset with a focus on delivering business value associated with operations transformation.
  • Experience in related Payment's operations or other areas of capital markets including FX, reconciliation, settlement.
  • Strong analytical skills, results orientation and data-driven approach in decision making (via KPIs and metrics).
  • Proven leadership, collaboration, and presentation skills with broad audience of stakeholders.
  • Certification in relevant areas such as ITIL or PMP is a plus


Working Conditions:
  • Works in a hybrid, office-based environment within a 24/7 operational model; non-standard hours are a regular requirement
  • Participates in on-call rotations, including after-hours, weekend support, and occasional shift work
  • Responds to high-severity incidents outside business hours and may work extended or irregular hours to ensure timely service restoration and platform resiliency
