Job Summary:
Provides vision and leadership for the Patient Access teams in a multi-facility integrated delivery health system. Provides leadership and direction to the staff to assure appropriate and timely communication and information regarding medical service access, physician and service referral, and direction to all services offered. Supports internal and external customer needs and offers input on process improvement to meet those needs via resources available throughout the System.

Job Duties:
  • Assures the values, goals and objectives of patient access are reflected and maintained across system operations.
  • Manages human resource issues such as staff position descriptions, performance evaluations, hiring, selecting, promoting and disciplinary actions as required.
  • Displays proficiency in recruitment, selection, motivation and development of staff.
  • Collaborates with the division leadership team to establish and maintain a staff orientation and ongoing education program, assessment of staff competency and productivity monitoring.
  • Manages assigned areas including participation in annual budget preparation, operational and capital budget and ongoing evaluation and reporting of budget deviations.
  • Provides leadership in Patient Access Services, promoting a seamless delivery of services to patients and members.
  • Delegates and provides leadership and professional development of direct reports.
  • Establishes credibility and collaborative working relationships within and outside the organization to initiate develop and direct strategic and tactical initiatives to meet the patient access functions.
  • Develops and collaborates on and implements system policies and procedures related to patient access, patient registration and inpatient scheduling.
  • Ensures that all areas of responsibility perform accurately and efficiently throughout the system which includes collaboration with physicians, financial managers and administrators to identify and utilize resources appropriately, maintaining a qualified workforce, accurate and timely monitoring and reporting of data forecasting changes in activity and monitoring trends.
