Role Summary
The Procurement Manager is responsible for overseeing all purchasing activities that support manufacturing operations, including collaborative sourcing, supplier relationship management, cost optimization, and end-to-end procurement processes. This role ensures timely delivery of quality materials, competitive pricing, supplier performance, and seamless coordination with internal cross-functional teams. The Procurement Manager leads the quoting process, purchase order execution, delivery assurance, and continuous improvement efforts within the supply base.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Procurement & Sourcing
• Develop and execute procurement strategies to support manufacturing needs and company objectives.
• Identify, qualify, and manage international suppliers to ensure competitive pricing, reliable delivery, and high quality.
• Support RFQs (Requests for Quote) and analyze supplier proposals for cost, capability, lead time, and risk.
• Support cost-reduction initiatives and negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing.
Operational Purchasing
• Oversee full procurement lifecycle from quoting through PO issuance, acknowledgment, and follow-up.
• Monitor open orders and ensure on-time delivery through proactive communication with suppliers.
• Run and manage late/overdue PO reports, escalating issues and identifying systemic root causes.
• Ensure accurate data in ERP systems including lead times, pricing, order quantities, and supplier information.
Supplier Management
• Build strong relationships with domestic and international suppliers through regular communication.
• Support supplier business reviews to evaluate performance metrics including delivery, quality, cost, and responsiveness.
• Track and drive supplier corrective actions when performance does not meet expectations.
• Ensure suppliers comply with company standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Work closely with Production Planning, Engineering, Quality, and Logistics to ensure material availability aligns with build schedules.
• Collaborate on engineering changes, ensuring suppliers receive updated specifications and implement changes on time.
• Support New Product Development (NPD) projects by identifying supply chain risks and securing components for prototypes and production.
• Work closely with the POC and Aftermarket teams to achieve monthly and annual revenue goals
Data & Reporting
• Maintain procurement KPIs such as on-time delivery (OTD), cost savings, supplier scorecards, and inventory impacts.
• Prepare procurement reports and present insights or recommendations to leadership.
• Analyze market trends, currency impacts, and global risk factors affecting supply availability or cost.
Compliance & Continuous Improvement
• Ensure purchasing activities align with company ethics, quality standards, and governance controls.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in procurement and supply base management.
• Support audits and documentation requirements related to procurement activities.
Required Skills & Abilities
• Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage international suppliers across time zones and cultural environments.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing supply chains, lead times, logistics, and cost drivers.
• Proficiency in Dynamics D365 and Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Education & Experience
• 10+ years of procurement experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with domestic and international sourcing, supplier performance management, and full procurement cycle
Physical & Travel Requirements
• Ability to sit or work at a computer for extended periods.
• Occasional domestic or international travel to suppliers (as needed).
