Job DescriptionThe Ambulatory Psychiatry practice provides comprehensive behavioral health services across a diverse portfolio of specialty programs serving adult, child, and adolescent populations. Services include adult outpatient psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, outpatient addiction services, intensive outpatient and transitional programming, and procedural psychiatry services, including Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), ketamine/esketamine therapy, and long-acting injectable medication clinics. Nursing teams deliver patient-centered care through assessment, triage, care coordination, medication management, patient and family education, therapeutic interventions, and multidisciplinary collaboration across the continuum of psychiatric care.
The nurse manager 24/7 practice is accountable for the implementation of the vision, mission and values of Mayo Clinic and the Department of Nursing within defined areas of practice. The nurse manager 24/7 practice plans, directs, coordinates, and evaluates the operational, fiscal, and personnel activities within defined areas of practice to ensure the provision of quality patient care 24 hours a day. The individual contributes to the strategic planning process, and attainment of goals of the organization. The individual is responsible for one or more inpatient units based upon unit/area complexity and size of practice. The nurse manager 24/7 practice advocates for and allocates available resources to promote efficient, effective, safe, and compassionate nursing care based on current standards of practice. The nurse manager 24/7 practice is responsible for total work unit budget. The individual promotes shared decision making on the unit level. The nurse manager 24/7 practice acts as a resource and facilitates collaboration between nursing personnel and other health care disciplines throughout the organization and within the healthcare community. The nurse manager 24/7 is accountable for promoting ongoing development of all staff and for maintaining a professional environment in which all staff can grow and develop. Direct reports may include nurse supervisors of assigned inpatient units.
This role is eligible for TN sponsorship. Successful sponsorship will require state licensure and completion of the VisaScreen or equivalent certification.
QualificationsGraduate of an accredited master's or doctorate degree in nursing or a bachelor's degree in nursing with a master's or doctorate degree in business or a health-related field. Will consider applicants meeting all other qualifications who commit to degree completion within six months from application date. Candidates who meet the baccalaureate degree requirement but have not yet obtained a master's/doctorate degree may be considered for an interim role. Minimum of three years of nursing practice or progressive leadership experience required.
Additional Qualifications:- Minimum of three years of psychiatric nursing experience.
- Previous leadership experience preferred, including experience as a Nurse Manager, Assistant Nurse Manager, Nursing Supervisor, Team Lead, Charge Nurse, or other formal nursing leadership role.
- Experience in ambulatory psychiatry, behavioral health, addiction services, procedural psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, or intensive outpatient settings preferred.
- Demonstrated experience supporting clinical operations, patient access, care coordination, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Knowledge of ambulatory nursing workflows, including patient triage, medication management, care coordination, and patient and family education.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and change leadership skills.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and psychologically safe environment for patients, families, and staff.
Demonstrated leadership ability. Experience in the department's specialty preferred. Management experience preferred. Preferred Education: Graduate of an Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accredited master's in nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program.

Current RN license by applicable state requirements.
BLS (Basic Life Support) must be valid for 90 days post start date; acceptable certifications include: American Heart Association (AHA)/ Heartcode® BLS, Military Training Network, Red Cross (CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers). Maintains ACLS and PALS per specific unit guidelines.
Additional state licensure(s) and/or specialty certification/training as required by the work area.
