The University of Miami Health System ("UHealth") IT Department has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Manager, IT Security to work onsite in Miami, Florida.

The Manager, IT Security analyzes and directs the activities of the security operations team and supervises all assigned security operations staff. The incumbent in this position directs internal teams in the execution of initiatives as they relate to threat analysis, monitoring, systems and applications, responding to all related cybersecurity alerts, and supporting strategic IT initiatives.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Designs improved work systems by revising work standards, policies, and procedures, employee work method and utilization, and staffing levels.
  • Plays an integral role in the hire, training, counseling, and development of staff.
  • Develops and maintains a professional development and training plan for staff.
  • Confers with and advises subordinates of technical problems and solutions, task prioritization, and support methodology.
  • Serves as a point of contact for the security operations management team on day-to-day IT security operations center initiatives.
  • Ensures a consistently high level of customer service throughout the department by creating appropriate service standards, regular observation, and mentoring department personnel.
  • Develops, documents, and modifies guidelines and procedures to promote efficiency within the unit.
  • Supervises the performance of unit supervisors and staff.
  • Administers and processes staff performance appraisals.
  • Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures.
  • Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.
  • Ensure the IT security operations processes adhere to established and documented security operations processes in support of the University mission.


Department Specific Functions:
  • In charge of managing the IT security operations team
  • In charge of managing and monitoring the University's security platforms
  • Serve as the point of contact with security service providers/MDDRs
  • Manage the day-to-day Enterprise IT Security Operations Team
  • Serve as first level of escalations for all cybersecurity related incidents
  • Evaluate and provide recommendations on enhancing the security IR processes and procedures
  • Support all cybersecurity IR investigations, help prioritize the necessary actions to protect the University's network resources
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging threats, and best cybersecurity practices

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field

Certification and Licensing: Preferred industry certifications, including but not limited to:
  • CISSP
  • CISM
  • Security +
  • Certified Ethical Hacker
  • Cloud security certifications
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience / 3 years minimum supervisory experience required
  • Knowledge of business and management principles.
  • Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.
  • Ability to establish department goals, and objectives that support the strategic plan.
  • Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and train others.
  • Operational Management: Optimizes day-to-day operations and processes for efficiency and effectiveness.
