The Facility Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for providing focus, definition, and technical expertise for the development of a proactive Environmental, Health, and Safety plan that is consistent with Novolex Corporate policies, vision, and values; and is in compliance with local, state, and federal EHS regulations.

 

Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities

The essential functions and responsibilities are:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance withOSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Work with training department to develop and provide safety training for employees, assuring that we

are providing a safe and secure work environment.

  • Oversee the investigation of work-related illness and injuries; investigating all accidents, near misses,

or areas or concern and assuring corrective actions are implemented.

  • Champion Human Performance principles through training, tools, and event learning teams.
  • Identifies safety hazards inherent in the organization’s operations and collaborates with operations,

maintenance, and HR to address those hazards.

  • Assist with Worker’s Compensation claims for the plant.
  • Organize and facilitate employee Safety Committee.
  • Facilitate audits to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determine corrective or

preventive measures where indicated and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.

  • Coordinates emergency response operations including medical, chemical, fire and evacuation/rescue,

designating responders, training, and scheduling drills.

 

Company policies, procedures, and practices are implemented via this position. Quality of products is directly

related to the effectiveness of individuals in this job. A broad base of current technical knowledge is required

to ensure that standards are met and efficiencies are maintained. Problem solving and decision making

abilities are essential for success.

 

Qualifications

Qualifications required:

  • BS degree in safety, industrial hygiene, or environmental related discipline and 5+ years experience in EHS or related field
  • Certification preferred (CIH, CSP, and/or CHP)
  • Demonstrated computer literacy with knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and state-specific regulations.
  • Experience with hazardous materials, air permits, and environmental reporting.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be a team player that interacts effectively with co- workers in group or in independent cooperative activities.
  • Ability to function under pressure and able to prioritize numerous tasks with conflicting deadlines.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies and work flexible hours as needed.

An individual must have the following skills in the Facility EHS Manager position:

  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills and the ability to communicate and influence at all levels within the organization.
  • Self-directed with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple accountabilities and multiple internal customers.
  • Strong analytical skills as well as organizational skills.
  • Solid project management capabilities with the ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously from origin through execution.
  • Well-developed leadership and motivational skills with proven ability to influence and motivate others to quickly achieve results.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule during key business deadlines.
  • Must be team oriented with the ability to work on high collaboration and performance teams.
