Responsibilities

  • Support review and analysis of accounting matters within GBM by preparing relevant data and responding to inquiries.
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives by assembling financial data, tracking deliverables and preparing recommendations.
  • Generate recurring and ad hoc reports, assisting with planning and forecasting for business line stakeholders.
  • Prepare and analyze financial results and develop reporting packages to identify trends and facilitate decision-making.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to enhance the integrity of Management Information Systems data for reporting purposes.
  • Assist with ad hoc requests from management and other stakeholders by preparing analytical materials and reconciliations.

Purpose

The Manager, GBM Business Line Support & Financial Analysis is part of a team responsible for providing high-quality analytical, reporting, reconciliation and data support to GBM's business lines, Global Finance partners and senior management. Reporting to the Senior Manager, GBM Business Line Support & Financial Analysis, the role supports the team's mandate by preparing insightful analysis, maintaining and reconciling statutory and MIS data, and helping translate financial information into clear reporting that supports business objectives, balance sheet management and decision-making across GBM.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
  • Accounting Analysis - Support the review and analysis of accounting matters in GBM by compiling relevant information, preparing supporting schedules, researching background materials and assisting with responses to accounting requests or issues raised by GBM business partners.
  • Strategic Initiatives - Contribute to GBM strategic initiatives by preparing analysis, assembling financial and operational data, coordinating inputs, tracking deliverables and supporting the development of recommendations for review by the Senior Manager and broader team.
  • Business Line Support - Provide responsive support to the Senior Manager, Director and business line stakeholders by generating recurring and ad hoc reports, maintaining analytical files, validating data, and assisting with planning, forecasting and balance sheet management analysis.
  • Financial Analysis and Reporting - Prepare and analyze financial results, prepare variance analysis, reconcile data between systems and sources, and develop clear commentary and reporting packages that help identify trends, explain results and support timely decision-making.
  • Management Information Systems and Data Integrity - Work collaboratively with Finance, GBM and other stakeholders to access, maintain, reconcile and enhance MIS data used for profitability, performance, capital, funding and balance sheet reporting.
  • Ad Hoc Requests - Support ad hoc requests from Executive Management, Finance partners, auditors, regulators and other stakeholders by preparing data extracts, reconciliations, schedules, analysis and presentation-ready materials related to business line, product, geographic or client profitability, balance sheet, capital and funding usage.
  • Team Environment - Contribute to a collaborative, inclusive and high-performing team environment by producing accurate work, sharing insights, supporting process improvements and helping maintain effective day-to-day controls over reporting, analysis and data management activities.


Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:
  • Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration or a related discipline; Chartered Financial Analyst, Chartered Professional Accountant designation, or progress toward a relevant designation would be an asset.
  • 3+ years of experience in Finance, capital markets, financial planning and analysis, accounting, reporting, data analytics or a related analytical role is preferred.
  • Strong interest in capital markets and demonstrated ability to learn business line activities, accounting and financial reporting processes, performance measurement, planning and analysis, and related controls.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience preparing financial analysis, reconciliations, reporting packages and data-driven commentary.
  • Strong Excel and data management skills; experience with financial systems, MIS reporting tools, dashboards or automation tools would be an asset.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to summarize complex information clearly and prepare materials for senior review.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines and contribute positively to process improvements and team deliverables.
