Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position, scheduled to work Monday through Friday with core business hours between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. The role is hybrid with, with a regular need to work onsite in Madison, WI to support organizational priorities. Off hours availability may be required.

As the Manager, Financial Counseling, you will lead a team of experienced professionals dedicated to helping patients navigate complex financial and insurance-related challenges. Success requires exceptional communication skills, emotional intelligence, and the ability to guide difficult conversations with patients, families, providers, and leaders while balancing patient advocacy, regulatory requirements, and organizational goals. As a trusted resource for escalations, you will build trust, provide clear guidance on complex financial matters, and foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

What You'll Do:
Lead and develop a team of skilled financial counseling professionals.
Support staff in navigating complex patient situations involving financial responsibility, insurance coverage, eligibility, and access to care.
Serve as a resource for sensitive patient and stakeholder escalations, ensuring concerns are handled with empathy and professionalism.
Translate complex financial, regulatory, and operational information into clear, actionable guidance.
Partner with leaders to improve processes, operational performance, and the patient experience.

What We're Looking For:
Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills.
Proven ability to navigate difficult conversations with empathy, professionalism, and clarity.
Experience leading highly skilled, tenured teams while fostering trust, engagement, and growth.
Revenue cycle experience and knowledge of healthcare reimbursement, financial assistance, or transplant financial counseling is highly valued.
Healthcare revenue cycle, financial counseling, or reimbursement experience preferred.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration or a related field. Four (4) years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle operations may be considered lieu of the degree in addition to the experience below. Required

Work Experience
Five years of experience in a health care setting or three years of related experience in a leadership role. Required
Five years of management experience in healthcare revenue cycle operations for a large, complex health care environment, including experience in an academic medical center. Preferred
Experience with a hospital-based computer system (preferably Epic). Required
