Job Category: Academic Staff

Employment Type: Terminal (Fixed Term)

Job Profile: Clinical Instructor

Job Summary:
This appointment will be in the 2028-2029 Advanced Cardiovascular Imaging Fellowship Program, receiving subspecialty training in cardiac CT, cardiac MRI, and vascular CT and MR angiography, including congenital heart disease imaging and 4D flow MRI.

This appointment has two components: 1) advanced clinical (and research) training in cardiovascular CT and MRI, and 2) providing independent clinical services for the Department of Radiology at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics and other UW Radiology outpatient or outreach sites and extended coverage areas as necessary as described below and as assigned by the Department Chair. You will receive additional compensation for these independent clinical services from the Department of Radiology through the UW Medical Foundation per the local Moonlighting Opportunities Summary.

The fellow will interpret and post-process a high volume of coronary CT angiography, structural heart CT, cardiac MRI, and thoracic and peripheral vascular CT and MR angiography studies. Training includes hands-on protocoling and scanner-side experience, advanced post-processing in the department's 3D visualization laboratory (RADIUS), and participation in multidisciplinary conferences with cardiology, cardiac surgery, congenital heart disease, and vascular surgery colleagues.

Dedicated academic time is provided for research, quality improvement, or educational scholarship. Fellows are supported in preparing abstracts and manuscripts for national meetings and peer-reviewed journals, and are expected to complete at least one scholarly project during the training year. Fellows are also fully supported to sit for Certification for Cardiac CT and Cardiac MR examinations and to pursue Level III equivalency in cardiovascular CT and MRI.

Additional Job Details:
  • Terminal, 12-month appointment. Position is for one year with the possibility of extending for an additional year.

Perform structural heart imaging for TAVR, transcatheter mitral and tricuspid intervention, left atrial appendage occlusion, and electrophysiology planning.
  • Cardiac MRI: Interpret and protocol cardiac MRI for cardiomyopathy, myocarditis, ischemic heart disease, myocardial viability, arrhythmogenic and infiltrative disease, valvular assessment, and cardiac masses, including parametric mapping (T1, T2, T2*, extracellular volume) and stress perfusion imaging.
  • Vascular CT and MR: Interpret thoracic and abdominal aortic, pulmonary arterial, carotid, renal, mesenteric, and peripheral CT and MR angiography, including pre- and post-procedural evaluation of endovascular and open surgical repair, aortic dissection and aneurysm surveillance, and vasculitis.
