Full Job Description
Position Overview:
Responsible for leading and managing the engineering team at NOG-J. This role involves overseeing the development and implementation of engineering projects, ensuring technical excellence, and fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment. The role will guide the team in meeting project objectives, managing resources effectively, and driving continuous improvement in engineering practices.

On-site in Jonesborough, Tennessee

Your Day to Day as an HPDU Manager - Engineering:
  • Leads, mentors, and develops a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Conducts regular performance evaluations and support career development through coaching and training.
  • Oversees the planning, design, and execution of engineering projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required specifications.
  • Coordinates with cross-functional teams to align engineering efforts with company objectives and project goals.
  • Ensures technical excellence in process engineering, adhering to industry best practices and standards.
  • Provides guidance and support to engineers in the resolution of technical challenges and complex problems.
  • Continuously evaluates and improves engineering processes, methodologies, and tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Implements best practices in engineering design, project management, and quality assurance.
  • Manages engineering resources, including staffing, budgeting, and equipment allocation, to ensure optimal productivity and project success.
  • Identifies skill gaps and work with HR to recruit top engineering talent as needed.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for engineering-related matters for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepares and presents project updates, technical reports, and performance metrics to senior management.
  • Identifies potential risks associated with engineering projects and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Ensures compliance with relevant regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
  • Stays up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, incorporating them into engineering strategies.
  • Encourages and supports innovative solutions and new ideas from the engineering team.


Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Chemical, preferred); master's degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in engineering, with at least 3 years in a management or leadership role.
  • Strong technical knowledge of engineering principles, methodologies, and practices.
  • Proven experience in project management, including planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in engineering software and tools relevant to the field.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.

Pay: $114,000 - $180,000

The base salary range for this position in Tennessee (US-TN) at the start of employment is expected to be between $114,000 and $180,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,' unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
