As a Manager, Employment Tax & Global Mobility Payroll, you will serve as a trusted advisor to multinational clients navigating the complexities of cross-border employment, payroll, and workforce compliance.

You will help organizations manage employment tax obligations, social security considerations, shadow payroll reporting, and global payroll compliance requirements for mobile and remote workforces. Combining technical expertise with practical operational experience, you will work closely with HR, payroll, mobility, finance, and tax stakeholders to deliver solutions that manage risk, enhance compliance, and support business objectives.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of employment tax advisory and payroll operations, supporting complex client engagements while helping grow Vialto's Employment Tax and Global Payroll practice.

Responsibilities

Client Advisory & Technical Support
  • Advise multinational clients on Canadian and international employment tax, payroll, and social security matters.
  • Provide guidance on employee mobility programs, cross-border employment arrangements, compensation structures, and benefits.
  • Assist clients in assessing and managing employer withholding, reporting, remittance, and compliance obligations.
  • Support employment tax reviews, payroll health checks, risk assessments, and remediation projects.
  • Analyze employment tax and payroll exposures and develop practical recommendations to manage risk.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and communicate their impact to clients.
  • Liaise with tax authorities, payroll agencies, and government bodies to support clients in resolving compliance, withholding, reporting, registration, and payroll-related matters.
  • Support clients through payroll reviews, audits, government enquiries, and remediation initiatives, providing practical solutions and managing stakeholder communications.


Global Payroll & Shadow Payroll Services
  • Oversee the delivery of payroll-related compliance services for globally mobile workforces, including shadow payroll and employer reporting requirements.
  • Advise clients on payroll reporting requirements related to internationally mobile employees.
  • Support the implementation and operation of payroll compliance processes across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Collaborate with payroll providers, client payroll teams, and global mobility stakeholders to resolve payroll and reporting issues.
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll governance, controls, data quality, and operational efficiency.


Client Relationship Management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with client stakeholders across HR, payroll, tax, and mobility functions.
  • Manage multiple client engagements, ensuring quality, timeliness, and commercial objectives are achieved.
  • Serve as a day-to-day contact for client inquiries and escalations.
  • Identify opportunities to expand services and support clients with broader workforce compliance needs.


Team Leadership & Development
  • Coach, mentor, and support associates and senior associates.
  • Contribute to technical training and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  • Support engagement management, resource planning, and operational excellence initiatives.


Business Development & Practice Growth
  • Support proposal development, pricing discussions, and client presentations.
  • Contribute to business development activities and relationship-building initiatives.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across Vialto's integrated workforce solutions practice to deliver seamless employment tax, payroll, compliance, mobility, and workforce advisory services.
  • Work closely with global teams to support multinational clients and deliver coordinated cross-border solutions.
  • Participate in process improvement and innovation initiatives that enhance service delivery and client experience.


Qualifications

Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in a field such as Business Administration/Management, Economics, Finance, International Business, Management, Quantitative Finance
  • 5+ years of experience in employment tax, payroll compliance, global payroll, global mobility tax, or related consulting and advisory services.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian and Quebec payroll and employment tax requirements.
  • Experience supporting multinational organizations and internationally mobile workforces.
  • Experience managing client relationships and multiple simultaneous engagements.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to translate technical requirements into practical business solutions.


Preferred
  • Experience with shadow payroll, tax equalization, and global payroll operations.
  • Familiarity with global mobility programs and workforce compliance requirements.
  • Experience working within a professional services, consulting, payroll, or multinational environment.
  • Experience supporting payroll audits, employer reviews, government enquiries, or compliance remediation projects.


Additional Information
  • This is a hybrid role, with an expectation of a minimum of two days/week in office. Available locations include: Calgary, Toronto, Vancouver
  • Compensation Range: $110,000 - 140,000 CAD
