Purpose

The Manager, Digital Asset Advisory supports the Director, Digital Assets AML Risk & Compliance in designing, documenting, and operationalizing internal controls for digital asset-related products, services, partnerships, and client relationships. The role assists with onboarding and due diligence activities, coordinates cross-functional AML efforts, and helps translate digital asset risk requirements into practical control expectations, procedures, and stakeholder-ready materials.

What You'll Do
  • Assist the Director in designing, documenting, and enhancing AML control expectations for customers, products, vendors, platforms, and activities involving digital assets, VASPs, stablecoins, tokenized assets, blockchain-enabled payments, and related emerging technologies.
  • Support the development and maintenance of internal control documentation, policies, procedures, playbooks, risk assessment templates, escalation criteria, and governance materials for digital asset activity.
  • Perform and coordinate onboarding support for digital asset-related clients and relationships, including information gathering, due diligence review, risk assessment inputs, issue tracking, and documentation of control requirements.
  • Partner with business, AML, sanctions, fraud, cybersecurity, technology, legal, operational risk, and product stakeholders to coordinate intake, review, approval, remediation, and ongoing monitoring activities.
  • Support assessment of proposed digital asset products, partnerships, vendors, and jurisdictions by identifying AML risks, control gaps, mitigating actions, and implementation dependencies.
  • Assist in mapping risk appetite and control standards to practical business requirements, including customer segmentation, due diligence triggers, monitoring expectations, reporting needs, and escalation pathways.
  • Coordinate regular status reporting, meeting materials, action logs, issue remediation updates, and stakeholder communications related to digital asset AML initiatives.
  • Support the identification and documentation of emerging typologies, including laundering, fraud, sanctions evasion, terrorist financing, scam activity, cross-chain bridging risks, DeFi exposure, and other blockchain-enabled risk indicators.
  • Assist with investigations, escalations, suspicious activity review inputs, and case management guidance where matters involve digital asset activity or blockchain-enabled financial crime typologies.
  • Collaborate with analytics, intelligence, and technology teams on blockchain analytics, monitoring scenarios, rule enhancements, model inputs, and data quality considerations.
  • Support regulatory, audit, testing, and compliance review requests by coordinating evidence collection, drafting responses, tracking remediation actions, and maintaining organized records.
  • Contribute to training, guidance, and knowledge-sharing materials for AML teams and business partners to strengthen digital asset awareness and consistent application of control expectations.


What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree required in Business, Finance, Economics, Law, Risk Management, Data/Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in AML, financial crime compliance, sanctions, investigations, risk management, regulatory compliance, consulting, or a similar control function.
  • Experience supporting customer onboarding, enhanced due diligence, risk assessments, issue management, internal controls, testing, audit, or regulatory remediation activities.
  • Digital asset, blockchain analytics, cryptocurrency investigations, fintech, payments, correspondent banking, or emerging technology risk experience considered an asset.
  • Certifications related to AML, financial crime, or digital assets are considered an asset, including CAMS, ACAMS Crypto, TRM Labs, Chainalysis, or similar credentials.
  • Working knowledge of digital assets, VASPs, stablecoins, tokenized assets, DeFi, blockchain transaction typologies, sanctions exposure, Travel Rule expectations, and relevant global regulatory guidance.
  • Strong ability to convert complex regulatory and technical concepts into practical controls, procedures, risk assessments, and concise stakeholder communications.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work, manage action logs, track dependencies, maintain organized documentation, and drive follow-through across multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, writing, critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills, with high attention to detail and sound judgment.
  • Comfort working with senior stakeholders, technology partners, compliance teams, business partners, and control functions in a fast-paced environment.
