Job Description:Department Overview The TD Securities' (TDS) Governance & Control (G&C) team partners with the TDS businesses globally to oversee the design, implementation, maintenance, and monitoring of effective internal controls to ensure business activities remain within TD Bank's risk appetite and comply with regulatory requirements.
The team is responsible for overseeing the timely and consistent implementation - across all TDS businesses - of all risk, control and governance programs, initiatives, policies, and strategic business projects. The TDS G&C team acts as the primary contact for the TDS businesses, working closely with subject matter experts from each TDS business line. The team works together with the business leaders to implement Enterprise and TDS policies, frameworks, methodologies, standards, and practices and are key members of enterprise projects / programs requiring TDS representation.
Job DescriptionReporting to the Senior Manager, TDS G&C, the primary role of the Manager / Data Steward II, TDS G&C 1B, is to support TDS businesses and control partners in adhering to applicable regulatory requirements, managing data risk, and having effective operational data controls in place. This role requires a specialized skill set, with responsibility for the governance of data under their stewardship and ensuring segregation of duties from 1A Data Owners who are responsible for the implementation of data governance and data management requirements.
Data Stewards work in partnership with a variety of stakeholders, including TDS Data Management, the Enterprise Data Management Office (EDMO) and Data Risk Management (DRM) to contribute to the ongoing management of data risk by assisting the Business to obtain a holistic view of data and information management practices and the corresponding risks.
As part of the key accountabilities of this Data Steward role, the Manager will:
- Demonstrate a strong understanding and promote awareness of key data risk frameworks, policies, and risk appetite to support a strong risk culture.
- Support, review and challenge the ongoing operation of data management and data governance activities (e.g., Data Quality, Metadata Management, Retention and Disposition, Data Issue, Change Governance, etc.) across the TDS business.
- Provide guidance to LOB business and technology (1A community) on data governance and data management requirements to meet policy and standards.
- Identify, prioritize, action, and escalate (as required) any data-related risks within their Business (e.g., issues, changes, projects/programs, etc.).
- Support the Business in data-related risk management activities / assessments (e.g., Privacy Impact Assessment, Data Impact Assessment, New Business Products, Change Risk Assessment, pRCSA, etc.) during strategic change initiatives to understand and mitigate data impacts and risks.
- Participate in regulatory, and audit activities as required for the LOB, and maintain awareness of any data-related regulatory and audit findings for their business and provide input into management response letters and remediation plans.
- Attend required data risk training sessions and leverage available resources to maintain ongoing awareness and engagement with the DS community and the 1A data community.
- Provide SME advice and input into the ongoing assessment of the design and operating effectiveness of TDS data key controls; and
- Review and challenge executive reporting, including meaningful data insights, on the overall status of programs; and
Job Requirements- University or Post-Graduate degree; professional accounting/auditing/risk management designation would be considered an asset.
- Solid knowledge of data governance, data management practices, enterprise data policy, standards & strategy.
- Minimum 4 to 6 years of data governance or data stewardship experience.
- Knowledge of capital markets businesses is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills.
- Flexibility to quickly adapt to changing and ambiguous initiatives or requirements and ability to work collaboratively across functions and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective time management, multi-tasking, and organizational skills to meet tight timeframes.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, as well as confident presentation and facilitation skills.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently and in a team environment.
