RELOCATION ASSISTANCE: No relocation assistance available CLEARANCE REQUIRED FOR START: Yes CLEARANCE TYPE: Secret TRAVEL: Yes, 10% of the Time Description Northrop Grumman Space Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Cyber Systems Engineering Manager 1, located in Huntsville, AL. This position will support the Missile Defense Systems (MDS) Business Unit. We are excited for you to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals. Position Overview: The position is in Huntsville, AL and requires 100% on-site support. This is an Engineering Section Manager role on the MDS BU GWS program requiring an average of 20% of the successful candidate’s effort and will be coupled with 80% technical responsibilities on the program.  This is a dual-role manager position, involving balancing both the overall functional oversight and management of a technical group of 10-12 engineers and/or interns as well as performing direct work on a program(s) / proposal(s). The selected candidate will spend ~20% of their time on support of the engineering organization and ~80% of their time on technical direct work. The time split may fluctuate throughout the year, especially during surge recruiting and rotation months. The management indirect responsibilities involve organizational administrative activities and helping their employees’ performance and career development through guidance and training. The direct program responsibilities include mission and tactical engineering, system architecture development, requirements development/management, IT system design/analysis, IPT/product owner leadership, or other appropriate technical functions. Essential Functions: - Oversight of product team staffing, employee development, and continual improvement of engineering practices. - Support senior managers in executing the strategy to motivate and to ensure a highly performing engineering team. This includes the use of Development Plans, stretch assignments, 1:1 feedback, coaching, training and other tools. - People leadership for an engineering IT organization, to include performance management, employee engagement and recognition. - Manage the workload of the employees and balance employee needs with business goals. - Maintains assigned Northrop Grumman engineering processes, Continues Improvement initiatives and drives technical excellence by ensuring team output meets technical standards. - Apply sound engineering principles and ensure compliance with all command media processes and standards in our technical solutions. - Provide proposal input and review proposal content for both internal and external customers. - The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels. Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of technical experience in any combination of Systems Engineering, or a related engineering field, or a Master’s degree in a STEM and 3 years of related engineering experience, or a PhD and 1 years of related engineering experience. - Able to work well within a team environment and adapt quickly to change. - Experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule, cost and scope. - Project management skills and a proven ability to follow through with commitments. - Strong leadership qualities, including excellent communication and collaboration, team engagement and organizational skills. - Strong people skills are required to guide the team in individual job performance and career development. - Solid understanding of Cloud Technologies and IT Computing Environments - Solid understanding of Network architecture and technologies - Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needs. - Must have active in-scope Government Secret security clearance at the time of application which is required to start. Preferred Qualifications: - Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3+ years of System Engineering experience. - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where multiple projects are being developed and deployed simultaneously. - Previous functional management experience leading a team of Software, Network, or Systems engineers or technical leadership experience on GMD/GWS for at least 2 years or more is highly preferred. - Previous experience as a Technical Lead in Cyber Systems Engineering or Project Manager or other demonstrated leadership role related to program execution. - DoD 8570/8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (Security+ CE, CySA+,GICSP, GSEC, SSCP, CCNA Security, etc.) preferred - Knowledge of the Agile development process Curious about all the exciting developments with the Northrop Grumman Space Sector? Northrop Grumman Total Rewards  Primary Level Salary Range: $127,000.00 - $190,600.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
