Full Job Description
About The Role & Team

Amplitude's Corporate Accounting team is at the center of ensuring accurate, scalable, and insight-driven financial operations as we continue to grow. We're looking for a player-coach Accounting Manager to join our San Francisco-based controllership team-someone who can balance hands-on execution with driving smarter, faster processes. This role will play a key part in modernizing our close, including embedding AI into core accounting workflows. If you enjoy rolling up your sleeves while building what "great" looks like for the future, you'll fit right in.

As an Accounting Manager, you will:
  • Own and run the full close cycle across the general ledger-including journal entries, consolidations, intercompany, reconciliations, and flux analysis-while continuously improving the speed, accuracy, and predictability of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting
  • Strengthen and scale accounting policies, processes, and internal controls to support a public company environment, ensuring compliance while building a foundation that can keep up with company growth
  • Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, Tax, Legal, and AP to drive a seamless close process, proactively resolve issues, and ensure financial data aligns with broader business objectives
  • Lead audit readiness and execution end-to-end, managing external auditors, owning the PBC process, and ensuring deliverables are organized, timely, and audit-ready (not the night-before scramble kind)
  • Identify and implement opportunities to automate and accelerate accounting workflows-including embedding AI into routine processes-to improve efficiency, reduce manual work, and increase overall data reliability

You'll be a great addition to the team if you have:
  • You've helped build or transform accounting processes in a high-growth or evolving environment-we value people who make things better, not just maintain them
  • You're naturally curious about how AI and automation can improve accounting workflows, and you're excited to experiment and implement
  • You operate with a high level of ownership and accountability, and we can rely on you to drive outcomes without constant direction
  • You're a strong communicator who can break down complex accounting concepts and build trust across teams
  • You enjoy mentoring others and raising the bar for the team around you

At a minimum, you need to have:
  • You bring 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including a mix of public accounting and industry experience (ideally in SaaS or tech)
  • You have a strong foundation in US GAAP and can apply it practically in a fast-paced environment
  • You hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA is a plus)
  • You have experience owning close processes and working with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred)
  • You're comfortable working in a SOX-compliant environment and understand the importance of strong internal controls
