Job Description:Pull up a chair by the hearth!Reporting into Hearthstone Marketing Leadership, this role leads a team of Community and Social professionals responsible for community engagement, social content strategy, channel management, player communications, and creator programs. Working closely with Game Teams, Product PR, Regional Marketing, Analytics, and Customer Support, this leader ensures player insights influence business decisions while Blizzard's social presence remains authentic, culturally relevant, and community-first.
The ideal candidate combines exceptional people leadership with deep expertise across live-service marketing, community development, social publishing, content strategy, and digital engagement. They understand that world-class communities are built through consistent storytelling, meaningful conversations, and genuine player advocacy.
This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, with some work on-site and some work-from-home. The potential home studio for this position is Irvine, CA.
Key Responsibilities- Lead Community & Social Strategy: Define and execute Hearthstone's global community, social, and player engagement strategy across owned platforms and channels.
- Lead and Develop the Team: Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of Community Managers, Social Managers, and Content Specialists while establishing scalable processes and best practices.
- Own Social Channels & Content: Oversee Hearthstone's global social ecosystem, including channel strategy, editorial planning, platform growth, community engagement, moderation, and social-first content.
- Champion the Voice of the Player: Lead player sentiment, community intelligence, and social listening programs, transforming player insights into actionable recommendations for marketing and game development.
- Build Community & Advocacy Programs: Develop and grow ambassador, creator, fan community, volunteer, and player advocacy programs that strengthen engagement, trust, and long-term loyalty.
- Drive Cross-Functional Alignment: Partner closely with Game Teams, Marketing, PR, CRM, Customer Support, Live Operations, Analytics, Creator, and Regional teams to deliver a unified player experience across launches and live-service initiatives.
- Lead Engagement Across Live Moments: Develop player engagement strategies for product launches, live-service beats, esports, BlizzCon, and other online and in-person community experiences.
- Measure & Optimize Performance: Define KPIs, leverage analytics and social listening, and continuously optimize community health, content performance, engagement, and business impact through data-driven decision making.
Requirements- A minimum of 8+ years of experience building communities and collaborating with cross functional teams in initiatives.
- Familiarity with Hearthstone through the understanding of game mechanics, community channels, and content creators.
- An understanding of the mobile and CCG gaming market and trends, with the ability to identify and develop new community growth opportunities
- A strong understanding of what communities look for and where they talk and interact with others
- In-depth knowledge of current community and content distribution channels, and the role they play in community and publishing strategy
- Highly organized, proactive self-starter, with demonstrated ability to plan and self-manage concurrent content pipelines and programs
- Ability to think on your feet, multi-task like a champ, and think both strategically and creatively
- Experience working with 3rd party gaming communities and content creators

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $79,360.00 - $146,816.00 Annual. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role's range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
