Manager, Communication Platforms & Engagement

Pella, IA or Urbandale, IA (hybrid)

Pella Corporation is looking for a driven Communications Platforms & Engagement Manager to join our team and has strong expertise in three core areas: communications technology management, content creation, and event planning.

In this role, you will oversee key communication technology platforms such as First Up, Sprinklr, Canva, and Meltwater, ensuring optimal performance and user engagement. You will develop and produce compelling content that resonates with diverse stakeholders, leveraging your creative skills and journalistic approach. Additionally, you will lead the planning and execution of meetings and events, designing memorable experiences that support our organizational goals.

This role requires deep knowledge of platform functionality and features, actively staying up to date on technology roadmaps and planned enhancements. You will lead implementations and upgrades, coordinate training sessions for users, and provide expert guidance on best practices and platform application. This role involves preparing reports, analyzing engagement data, and troubleshooting technical issues to maximize platform performance. You will also conceptualize, plan, and execute a variety of events, including corporate meetings, conferences, and, as needed, support PR events, and trade shows.

Key Responsibilities

Communications Platforms & Channel Strategy: Lead the evolution and optimization of communications platforms across the organization.
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert for corporate communications platforms (e.g., intranet, team member app, AI tools, livestream tools, virtual town halls, podcast or video platforms.)
  • Own day-to-day platform optimization, governance, and best practices to ensure consistency, accessibility, and engagement.
  • Partner with Communications, HR, IT, and vendor partners to improve platform functionality and user experience.
  • Monitor platform performance and engagement trends; recommend improvements based on insights and usage data.

Content Creation: Develop multi-media content across diverse internal and external channels.
  • Take complex information and turn it into digestible written & video content for internal and external channels including social media.
  • Support the planning and development of company-wide communications initiatives.

Strategic Event Support:
  • Support a limited number of high-impact, enterprise-levelevents, such as executive town halls or leadership meetings.
  • Focus on engagement strategy, experience design, and platform execution rather than logistics.
  • Apply standardized formats and tools to reduce customization and increase reuse.
  • Partner with internal teams or external vendors for logistics and execution as appropriate.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation:
  • Stay current on trends in team member engagement, communications technology, and digital storytelling.
  • Lead efforts to modernize how the organization communicates and engages audiences.
  • Recommend new tools, formats, or approaches that improve reach, efficiency, or effectiveness.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5-8 years of experience in corporate communications, internal communications, digital engagement, or communications technology.
  • Experience managing or supporting communications platforms and engagement tools.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities.
  • Comfort working with senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Deep knowledge & understanding of communications technology tools including AI.
  • Familiarity with internal communications platforms (e.g., intranets, employee apps, virtual meeting tools).
  • Strong writing, editing and proof-reading skills, including video scripts, and blogs.
  • Data-informed mindset with the ability to interpret engagement metrics.
  • Experience planning and executing internal events.
  • Experience in a matrixed or large organizational environment.
